Impact Wrestling opens up with highlights from last week focusing on Roode winning his shot at the belt this week.

Storm’s music hits and the World Champion makes his way down to the ring. Storm asks if there are any beer drinkers in the house tonight and then says growing up in the south you learn things growing up that turns you into a real man. Storm says in the south they say “yes mam” and “no sir” and treat everyone with respect, and no matter what if someone disses the red, white, and blue you beat the hell out of them. A big “USA” chant starts and Storm says you only get one go around in life. Storm says he was thinking about what they’ll put on his tombstone when he dies and he figured it out: “son, father, brother, beer drinker, and World Champion.” A “Cowboy” chant starts and Storm says he could stand there and talk about how he’s going to be a fighting champion and is going to defend his belt every day, but he drinks a little too much for that and he’s busy watching football on weekends. Storm says there has been one man that has been by his side this whole time and that’s Bobby Roode.

Roode makes his way down to the ring and Storm says a few weeks ago Roode asked Storm to bring everything he had in their match before BFG to help Bobby get ready for Kurt Angle. He says that everyone knows Bobby got screwed over at BFG and it’s fact. Storm tells Roode to bring everything he has tonight but he promised his daughter he’d bring that belt back home so his daughter can put it on. Roode says he’s had a chance to sit back and think about his career lately and he says he owes all of his success to Storm. Roode says a few years ago they were struggling as singles wrestlers but when they came together as Beer Money they became an overnight success. He says Beer Money became one of the greatest Tag Teams in the history of the business. He says it was Storm who came up with the name, the merchandise, and it was Storm that got them over. Roode thanks Storm for giving him a second chance in his career. He says that when Storm beat Kurt Angle 2 weeks ago he was the happiest man on the planet to be able to celebrate that moment with Storm. He says Storm has been his best friend for 4 years and tonight he has another opportunity and he knows that these opportunities don’t come around every day. He says he’s damn right he’ll bring it and he knows Storm will bring it too. Roode says they should do tonight what they’ve been doing the past 4 years, steal the show. Roode says they’re going to blow the roof off the building and have the match of their lives. He says no matter what after it’s all said and done the winner will be known as the better man.

Both Storm and Roode drop their microphones and do a fist bump and then raise each other’s hands.

Taz and Tenay run down the card for tonight which will feature Jeff Jarrett & Bully Ray vs. Jeff Hardy & Mr. Anderson, Ronnie from the Jersey Shore, and Bobby Roode vs. James Storm for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

In the back Eric Young is arriving with Ronnie.

A “you suck” chant erupts and Garrett says he’s really sorry that he hasn’t grown into the man that Eric wanted, but what he’s most sorry about is that he didn’t do this years ago and punches Eric in the mouth! Sting says he gets it, if Sting isn’t good to Joe then Joe’s going to kill somebody, he gets it.

Bischoff approaches Sting and says he has a deal for Sting. Bischoff says they both know that if Sting could fire him he would and they both know that he can’t because Bischoff has an ironclad contract with TNA. Bischoff says Flair came up with a great idea, he wants a match. He says if Sting gives him that opportunity then he’ll give Eric a chance to restructure his contract. Sting says he’ll think about it but he wants to talk to Garrett first.

Christopher Daniels says that ever since he decided to put himself first he’s been on a winning streak beating AJ Styles. Hervey reminds Chris that he’s the one that quit at BFG but Daniels says again that it was a recording that AJ used, it wasn’t real. Daniels says he’s the one that walked out of that match on his feet not AJ. Daniels says he wants his title shot and says he even beat RVD last week but RVD walks up behind him. Daniels says he doesn’t need a screwdriver to beat AJ or RVD and RVD punches him in the mouth! RVD and Daniels brawl until Daniels throws him into the wall. RVD kicks Daniels and then tosses him into some chairs nearby. Daniels grabs some of the chairs and throws them on the floor between him and RVD and takes off running. RVD says, “catch ya’ at Turning Point.”

Robbie says his show (Jersey Shore) sucks (that’s true) and he sucks. Robbie says he’s not threatened by him (all the while standing behind Rob Terry) and he could kick his ass any time he wants. Ronnie says then he should do it right now. Robbie says they don’t thinks like that around here and he tells Ronnie to go to the back and pack his bags before he punks him like the Situation did (I have no idea what that means). Ronnie tackles Robbie! Terry punches Ronnie and then lays Eric out. Terry holds Ronnie while Robbie whips his back with a belt. The Shore leaves the ring and Young grabs the microphone and says that Robbie whipping Ronnie with his belt is just weird. EY says he just has to clear things up with his close personal friend, Sting, but how about EY & Ronnie vs. Big Robbie & Little Robbie next week! Robbie E. goes nuts and doesn’t want any part of that while Terry tries to chill him out.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I really enjoyed tonight’s show minus a few segments. The atmosphere and overall feel that being outside of Orlando always helps these shows as well.

The opening promo between Beer Money was excellent and really set up the Main Event nicely as did the other short promo they cut backstage and the video package.

The Knockouts Tag match was decent when everyone but Tessmacher was in the match. I have no problem with Madison & Gail getting the belts, but they really need to establish some new teams.

I still could care less about the Bischoff drama but at least they did acknowledge the reason while Bischoff is still around. Now, they need to do it with Karen as well.

I’m interested to see where they go with Joe now following the little threat to Sting.

The teased Christopher Daniels vs. RVD at Turning Point and that feud could be interested when they finally get through AJ-Daniels which will be next week I believe.

Jesse-Aries was a good match but I want to see Kid Kash get into this thing somehow and it looks like that’s where they’re going.

Decent tag match between Immortal and Enigmatic Assholes, that dual Swanton would have been a cool visual if they would have hit it.

The Jersey Shore stuff sucks and as I said on Twitter, I just don’t get wrestling’s fascination with the Jersey Shore. It’s not entertaining at all, just stop it.

Morgan and Crimson’s promo was just kind of there.

Roode vs. Storm was excellent, really well done. Both guys worked their asses off and I loved the finish regardless of it being a screwy finish. Someone needed to be established as a heel and this got the job done. I loved the little subtleties in Roode’s facial expressions as he saw the beer bottle, then saw the referee down, and then back to the beer bottle. Nice camera work there. Roode has been saying for months that he would do anything for that belt, he saw his opening, and took it. Automatic heel turn and then spitting on Storm after the match and Tenay’s reaction helped with it (which is a chance because usually Tenay undersells everything but he oversold this). I’m looking forward to how all of this plays out.
