How was Bret Hart screwed in 1997?
In 1996, Bret Hart agreed to drop the belt to Shawn Michaels at WM12. After that, Bret Hart was off for six months and was offered a 9-million dollar contract by WCW, but eventually, Bret Hart declined the offer and signed a 20-year contract with the WWF. Later in 1997, Bret Hart did not like the direction of the WWF and Vince McMahon did not want to keep Bret Hart because of money issues. Vince approached Bret and told him that he wanted to break his 20-year contract and for him to go to WCW and get his old deal. Bret really didn't want to leave, but one thing lead to another and Bret signed with WCW. Now when Bret signed, he had given the WWF his final 30 days notice. Bret was WWF champion and Vince told him to drop the WWF title in Canada at the Survivor Series against Shawn Michaels. Bret didn't want to and referred to it as "blowing his brains out".. that would be the same thing as losing to Shawn. They finally agreed to a Survivor Series finish, where Bret Hart would win by disqualification and retain his title, and then maybe forfeit it the following night, or even lose it during the week. The plan was for Shawn to put Bret in the sharpshooter, Bret would reverse it and put it on Shawn and then the guys would come down and hit Bret and it would end in a DQ. Here is what happened at the PPV: They bump the referee (Earl Hebner), Shawn goes for the sharpshooter, Bret is about to reverse it and Vince McMahon yells at the time keeper to ring the bell and at the same time, Earl Hebner signaled for the bell too. Bret Hart did not submit at all, it was Vince's plan to screw him over.

Was there a real feud between Bret and Shawn?
Yes. Bret Hart and Shawn hated each others guts at one point. The way it all started is unknown, but they've been feuding since 1992. Come 1996, Shawn and his "Clique" were getting pretty much getting their way in the WWF and that didn't set too well with Bret Hart. Bret had to drop the title to Shawn at WrestleMania 12. In Early 1997, Shawn Michaels knew that he would be dropping the belt to Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13.. to return the favor so to speak..., therefore Shawn forfeited his WWF title (due to the unwillingness to job to Bret at WM13). This created even more heat between Bret and Shawn. Later that summer, Bret and Shawn got into a real fight backstage, where Bret confronted Shawn about comments Shawn made about Bret Hart and Sunny. From what's being said, Bret took down Michaels and there was some hair pulling and then WWF officials had to break it up. Right after Shawn got his ass kicked :) I mean after the fight, Shawn went in Vince's office and demanded a contract release and Vince said no. They were both sent home that night.
Why did Bret meet Vince in a park in 1999?
In 1999, prior to Owen Hart's funeral, Vince McMahon begged Bret Hart to meet him. Bret Hart said no. Martha Hart had already filed a lawsuit against the WWF because of Owen's tragic death. Vince kept begging Hart over and over to meet him and Bret Hart finally agreed to meet him in a park in Calgary. Lawyers told Bret Hart, no matter what, NOT to talk about the lawsuit, because Vince can be wired, or whatever.
Bret Hart and Vince met at a park. Vince kept apologizing over and over for everything and told Bret that he wants him to finish his career in the WWF, etc... Bret Hart asked Vince for one thing. He asked him if Bret Hart can have access for his footage from the WWF (pictures, videos, etc..) and Vince told Bret that he didn't even have to ask, he can have it. Strangely, Vince was acting really nice towards Bret. A few days later, when Bret asked for his WWF archives, Vince's lawyer said that Vince does not recall any part of that conversation and Bret cannot have access to anything. Vince's plan was to try to get Bret Hart on his side for the trial (The lawsuit filed by Martha). But that didn't work at all.
How many titles has Bret Hart held?
Counting, WWF, WCW and his early Stampede days, Bret Hart has held 29 titles.
-5 Times WWF Champion
-2 times WWF Intercontinental Champion
-2 times WWF Tag Team Champion
-2 times WCW World Champion
-4 times WCW U.S. Champion
-1 time WCW Tag Team Champion
-6 times North American Heavyweight Champion (Stampede)

How did Bret Hart get his "Hitman" moniker?
He got it from the boxer, Thomas "Hitman" Hearns. On a RAW episode in 1997, Bret even had a confrontation with boxer Thomas Hearns whom was in the front row over who was the real "Hitman."
Recently I was watching some old Raw tapes and I came across an incident when Bret Hart who was facing 'The Patriot' at the time got into a fight at ring side with Vince McMahon who was doing commentary. It didn't look like an act and I was wondering if it was meant to happen.
It was all scripted. Here is what happened. Shawn Michaels was announced as the special guest referee on RAW between the Undertaker vs. Bret Hart match for SummerSlam 1997. Bret came to ring side upset about the decision and slapped Vince McMahon's headset off, who was doing color commentating at that time and started yelling at him about making Shawn Michaels the referee. Then they started to fight, pulling shirts, and it was broken up right away.
I wanted to know who came up with the sharpshooter first? Sting or Bret Hart.
Neither men invented the move, they just made it famous, maybe Bret made it more famous than Sting, it's debatable. Some people would say that Sting did use it before Bret Hart and some say the opposite. Bret Hart said that he did use the move before Sting.
Goldberg delivered a mule kick to Bret Hart in WCW. The injuries Bret suffered due to this kick essentially put an end to his career. My question is that I remember not too long after that WCW ran a vignette at the end of a Nitro show where Bret Hart calls out Goldberg in some desert and essentially runs over him in his car. What exactly went down in this vignette, and was it scripted or was it a shoot? It sure looked real, and since the severity of the injury was not necessarily known to everyone at that time (with perhaps the exception of Bret), afterward I began to think that the vignette might have been scripted and then Bret turned it into a shoot.
If my memory serves correctly, Bret was in the car and then attacked Goldberg with a shovel and laid him out. This was all scripted. It was several months after Bret had received the concussion that this storyline was put together. Bret was out to get revenge in the storyline, that was pretty much it. Maybe a month after that Bret Hart was released from WCW.
The 1997 Royal Rumble was won by Stone Cold Steve Austin eliminating Bret Hart. But why didn't Austin go to the main event match at WrestleMania 13? Instead we saw Bret Hart vs. Stone Cold in a I quit match. Why?
For 1997, the WWF had planned for Shawn Michaels to face Bret Hart in the main event at WrestleMania 13 and for Bret Hart to recapture his title. Since Austin illegally eliminated Vader, Undertaker and Bret Hart to win the 1997 Royal Rumble, the plan was to have a Final Four match Vader vs. Taker vs. Hart vs. Austin and the winner would move on to WrestleMania and face Michaels. In February of 1997, Shawn Michaels went out on a Thursday edition of RAW and forfeited his WWF title, main reason was the unwhillingness to lose to Bret Hart at WM 13. So now the WWF title was vacant. WWF had to change the script. The winner of the final four match would win the WWF title instead of going to WM and competing for it. Bret won the Final Four and the title, but lost the title the next night to Sid to set up a feud with Sid and Taker for WM13. This led to the Hart/Austin feud.
Why did the Iron man match start the real-life rivalry between Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels?
I wasn't backstage to find out what day or year the rivalry started, but I will give you some information based on what I know. The match itself didn't really start the rivalry. Bret and Shawn have been feuding since 1992. I believe it all started in late 1995. Shawn and his "Clique" were pretty much in control backstage, which many wrestlers didn't like, especially Bret Hart. Hart knew months before the Iron man Match that Shawn was scripted to win the title. That was "mild" heat so to speak. I personally believe that the real heat all started in 1997. Early 1997, Shawn forfeited his title because he didn't want to return the favor and drop the belt to Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13. Then after that, many things happened that made the two hate each others guts.
Have Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels become friends since their Survivor Series match? I heard Shawn apologized, is that true?
To answer your first question, no. Shawn and Bret aren't friends. As far as Shawn apologizing, here is the story. Shawn admitted on knowing the outcome of Survivor Series and has said "I will always be sorry that the entire situation ever had to happen." Basically what this means is he is sorry to see the whole thing turn out the way it did. But he NEVER publicly or personally apologized to Bret about his role in it nor the other things Shawn did prior to SS. Shawn even said that if the situation (screwjob) happens again he'd still do it.
