Was his chant in WCW real?
Mostly yes. During Goldberg's big push in early 1997 WCW would use a
"Goldberg" chant over the speakers during his entrance to encourage the fans
to start chanting his name.
Was his record really 174-0?
No. The actual count was lost around the 20th match. WCW just made up 174
out of nowhere. The number is believed to be closer to 140 though.
Is he a Steve Austin clone?
Yes and no. The two wrestlers do look very much alike but it wasn't WCW's actual intention to make Goldberg up as Steve Austin. WCW actually made Goldberg to be a like Ken Shamrock though to show WWF the right way to push a shoot fight.
How many single-match losses did Goldberg have in his WCW days?
Goldberg suffered six (6) official losses in his WCW career in singles matches. Three of those losses were against Bret "Hitman" Hart. Including an un-official loss when Bret made his own three count which makes 4 losses. Here are his losses in order:
December 27, 1998 (Starrcade)
>> Kevin Nash defeated Bill Goldberg tin win World Title.
October 25, 1999
>> Bret Hart pinned Bill Goldberg to win the U.S. Title
December 19, 1999 (Starrcade)
>> Bret Hart defeated Bill Goldberg
December 20, 1999
>> Bret Hart defeated Bill Goldberg
July 24, 2000
>> Booker T pinned Bill Goldberg
September 17, 2000 (Fall Brawl)
>> Scott Steiner defeated Bill Goldberg
Goldberg delivered a mule kick to Bret Hart in WCW. The injuries Bret suffered due to this kick essentially put an end to his career. My question is that I remember not too long after that WCW ran a vignette at the end of a Nitro show where Bret Hart calls out Goldberg in some desert and essentially runs over him in his car. What exactly went down in this vignette, and was it scripted or was it a shoot? It sure looked real, and since the severity of the injury was not necessarily known to everyone at that time (with perhaps the exception of Bret), afterward I began to think that the vignette might have been scripted and then Bret turned it into a shoot.
If my memory serves correctly, Bret was in the car and then attacked Goldberg with a shovel and laid him out. This was all scripted. It was several months after Bret had received the concussion that this storyline was put together. Bret was out to get revenge in the storyline, that was pretty much it. Maybe a month after that Bret Hart was released from WCW.
I keep on hearing rumors that Goldberg got in a fight with HHH in a gym before Goldberg came to the WWE. Is that true?
Actually it was at a convention of some sort. Triple H was signing autographs with Stephanie and Goldberg started yelling at Triple H and basically calling him out over some comments Triple H said about Goldberg in an interview. Words were exchanged, but that's about it. There was nothing physical.
