Independent Promotions - FAQ
What is the Xtreme Wrestling Federation?
The Xtreme Wrestling Federation (or XWF) is a wrestling association that
started in the fall of 2001 and is based out of Florida. The XWF has held
tapings at Universal Studios Flordia and has held many house shows across
the U.S. Currently the XWF is looking for a television deal. Stars include:
Roddy Piper, Rena Mero, Roadwarriors, Terry Funk, and many more talented
wrestlers.
What was Main Event Championship Wrestling?
Main Event Championship Wrestling (or MECW) is a wrestling association
started in spring 2001 after the deaths of WCW and ECW. Stars included Curt
Hennig, Buff Bagwell, and the Roadwarriors. The company has headed by John
Collins and held a series of house shows before disappearing all together.
MECW started with Collins saying MECW was going national and would be on
television soon. Those promises were never fulfilled though and it was found
out later that Collins was not paying the talent. As each house show went by
the roster grew smaller and smaller until there was nothing left. MECW was
finished just has fast as it appeared on the seen. About a month after it's close it was found out that a Canadian millionaire
was financing the group but could not send money to Collins in the U.S
because he was involved in an investigation by the U.S government and his
assets had been frozen.
What is Xtreme Pro Wrestling?
Xtreme Pro Wrestling (or XPW) is a hardcore wrestling association that was
started in the summer of 1999. The company is owned by Rob Black who also
owns a porn video company. Stars who have appeared in XPW are: Shane
Douglas, Damien Steele, Chris Candadio, Sabu, Big Dick Dudley, and Supreme.
The group is mainly thought of as a copy of ECW by wrestling fans and uses
the same kind of hardcore moves as ECW once did. XPW runs shows once a month
in California and can be seen on television there.
