SHAWN MICHAELS - FAQ

I heard about Steve Borden (Sting) became a preacher in some churches for an unknown reason, but has Shawn Michaels done the same thing? I once saw on Raw he had a "God Related" shirt on.
Yes. They are both born again Christians.

A while back, when Degeneration X were in their prime, Shawn Michaels and Triple H stood in the ring and showed footage of themselves with Diesel and Razor Ramon. This apparently upset Vince McMahon who was doing commentary at ringside. They talked about how they were good guys and bad guys and so on. What was the significance of that footage and why was it supposed to upset Vince?
Well this goes back to the infamous Clique incident in Madison Square Garden. It was a house show in MSG, just before Diesel and Razor Ramon were jumping ships to WCW. At the end of the house show, Hall, Nash, Hunter and Shawn were in the ring and had a group hug. They broke kayfabe so to speak, since Shawn and Razor were faces and Hunter and Diesel were heels. This upset Vince McMahon a lot and there were some serious consequences to follow, but unfortunately, only HHH got the most heat for this and was held back for a year. Now to answer your question, 4 or 5 years ago HHH and Shawn were in the ring and the footage of that incident was shown on the titon tron, although it was all scripted and Vince allowed the footage to be shown, but he had to act like he didn't like it.

In the mid 90's, Shawn Michaels supposedly got "mugged by ten goons in a parking lot." This caused him to relinquish the belt to Shane 'Dean' Douglas. Was he really beat up? And if so, who were the people involved?
Well this isn't the first time that Shawn Michaels forfeits a title, but you can say it's the only time he forfeited the title because of a valid reason. Shawn Michaels, Sean Waltman (X-Pac), and Davey Boy Smith, the British Bulldog were at a Syracuse night club in New York. In the parking lot, nine men approached them if I am not mistaken, some words were said, then Shawn Michaels got the crap beaten out of him while, Bulldog and Waltman were both held back.

Was it a work or shoot when Shawn Michaels collapsed in the ring while facing Owen Hart? It looked like it was real.
They actually fooled a lot of people at that time with the Shawn Michaels situation. The whole thing was a work.

Why did the Iron man match start the real-life rivalry between Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels?
I wasn't backstage to find out what day or year the rivalry started, but I will give you some informaton based on what I know. The match itself didn't really start the rivalry. Bret and Shawn have been feuding since 1992. I believe it all started in late 1995. Shawn and his "Clique" were pretty much in control backstage, which many wrestlers didn't like, especially Bret Hart. Hart knew months before the Iron man Match that Shawn was scripted to win the title. That was "mild" heat so to speak. I personally believe that the real heat all started in 1997. Early 1997, Shawn forfeited his title because he didn't want to return the favor and drop the belt to Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13. Then after that, many things happened that made the two hate each others guts. To read more about it visit our FAQ section.

At Survivor Series 1993, who were Shawn Michaels' 3 "knights" in the match against Bret, Owen, Bruce, and Keith Hart, and why did Michaels take Jerry Lawler's place in the first place?
The Red Knight was Barry Horrowitz.
The Blue Knight was Greg Valentine.
The Black Knight was Jeff Gaylord.

In November of 1993, Jerry Lawler was being charged for allegedly raping a 13 and 14-year old girl. The charges were later dropped. And as you guessed it, it was around the same time Survivor Series was happening which is why Shawn Michaels took his place.

Have Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels become friends since their Survivor Series match? I heard Shawn apologized, is that true?
To answer your first question, no. Shawn and Bret aren't friends. As far as Shawn apologizing, here is the story. Shawn admitted on knowing the outcome of Survivor Series and has said "I will always be sorry that the entire situation ever had to happen." Basically what this means is he is sorry to see the whole thing turn out the way it did. But he NEVER publicly or personally apologized to Bret about his role in it nor the other things Shawn did prior to SS. Shawn even said that if the situation (screwjob) happens again he'd still do it.
