Week #2 from Corpus Christi was another pretty fun show for the most part. The crowd was dead at times and just seemed burned out which is to be expected at a double taping.

Kurt Angle dominated the most of the match with Wes & Garett but Aces & Eights squirm their way into the win again.

Really fun X-Division match though the crowd was extremely dead for it after the Canadian Destroyer. I’m not a fan of the X-Cam at all. It’s just not a good idea. I talked about the history of those kinds of gimmicks in WCW and CMLL last night during the recap, and this one seems just as useless. What was the deal with the yellow tint though?

Magnus actually came off really good in the attack on him because he was beating all their asses for awhile.

Samoa Joe and Devon wasn’t much of a match when Aces & Eights got involved.

Aces & Eights took out Samoa Joe, Magnus, and Kurt Angle this week plus Jeff Hardy last week. They are continuing to look stronger and stronger. I HOPE this is leading towards a “save us AJ!” type of story rather than a “save us Hulk” story but I’m sure Sting is going to be getting involved soon.

I had heard Mickie & Tessmacher’s match was terrible but either it was heavily edited or people at the live show were overreacted. It was a solid enough match but Mickie is in dire need of a heel turn which I really hope is coming soon (I feel like I’ve been saying this for a year).

Absolutely terrific back and forth from Dirty Heels & Bad Influence. They keep teasing me with this feud, I really want to see this.

I really liked the vignette with all the heels talking about Aces & Eights and putting over how dangerous they were. They followed that up with Aces & Eights not just attacking James Storm after the Main Event, but also attacking Bad Influence continuing the theme of them taking out TNA not just TNA’s babyfaces.

AJ & Storm had a pretty fun match with AJ switching up his style a bit with a little more aggressive nature and the submission finish which I haven’t seen in wrestling thus far (though it’s an MMA move). I really hope they move AJ more to a tweener type character that can still do all of his big spots because that takes a lot away from AJ if you limit his move set.

I’ve heard that they did a lot of stuff with Sting at the tapings so I’m assuming TNA called an audible on bringing Sting back just yet for whatever reason.

– Promo/Segment of the Night: Dirty Heels/Bad Influence
– Match of the Night: AJ vs. Storm (***)
– Overall Grade: B +

Until next week… PEACE!
