Well, that was fun. That’s about the best way I can describe “No Surrender.” Lots of fun, as far as the matches go. The promos for the most part were pretty pointless but I’ll get to that later.

AJ-Aries was absolutely great and we got a clean finish this time making up for the screwy finish last time. Still, given a few more minutes it could have been even better as it kind of started off slowly and a bit clunky at times, but when they got going it really heated up. I liked the way they built things up in the match too. They teased the dives and then later on did the dive spots. They teased finishers several times before finally doing them, but didn’t over do the finishes, building towards AJ breaking out a Super Styles Clash.

Roode-Magnus was good as well with some really good mat wrestling. There was actually a lot of good submissions done tonight in fact. Aries pulled out the Last Chancery, AJ pulled out a Triangle Choke and the Calf Killa, Roode pulled out the Crossface, and Magnus did the Cloverleaf multiple times. Magnus’ promo before the match with Sting was really good as well, short but good.

Ray and Anderson was REALLY physical and probably the best Anderson has looked in awhile. There was really good intensity in that one from all involved, and it REALLY seems like that piledriver was done to write Anderson off. The question is are they writing Anderson off to bring him back later or are they writing him off for good?

The BFG Series Finals was awesome, they really pulled out all the stops and I would say that was Magnus’ best singles match he’s ever had. The crowd was really into it too which added to things, and AJ again pulled out a big move he seldom uses, the Spiral Tap. I’m trying to think when the last time we saw it was and I believe it was the match against Matt Hardy at Victory Road 2011. I really liked the tease with EGO messing things up. The live crowd really thought they were about to get screwed out of a finish and I thought the same thing for a minute.

AJ’s promo after the match was solid and was a nice tease for next week.

The promo that was done to set up the tag match next week was HORRIBLE! I don’t know any other way to say, my god that was bad! They could have just did the damn tag match with no promos next week and let one of the matches tonight have another 5 minutes, cause that was bad. Not even Storm could save it because even he was off.

So we know AJ Styles vs. Bully Ray is the Main Event at BFG (which by the way is the first time I’ve correctly predicted the outcome of the BFG Series so that means I’m 1 for 2, yikes), but what else? Because of the BFG Series they haven’t been able to really build up anything in the X-Division or tag teams. Manik teased a match with Jeff Hardy but I really hope that’s not the feud they go for with BFG because I don’t see Manik getting put over Hardy at a big show like that and I definitely don’t want to see Hardy with the X-Division Title. I would assume we’re going to have a big multi-man blowoff match with Aces & Eights and MEM as well.

– Promo/Segment of the Night: AJ
– Match of the Night: TIE – Magnus vs. AJ/AJ vs. Aries (****)
– Overall Grade: A

Until next week… PEACE!
