“Turning Point” was overall a pretty entertaining show for the most part as most of these “free PPVs” have tended to be but there continues to be some really annoying aspects of Impact.

First, the X-Division is ignored yet again. The X-Division is pretty much nonexistent at this point. The only X-Division wrestlers under contract right now are Manik, Sabin, and Kenny King and none of them are getting TV time. It’s time to start rebuilding this division and be SERIOUS about it.

For the second week in a row a GREAT Tournament Match ends in just a horrible finish. How dissatisfying was that tease with the barbed wire just to have the towel thrown in? I know it’s setting up something with Storm and Gunner, which I’m fine with, but don’t have Storm fight through all of these crazy bumps and great spots just to have Gunner run out and throw in the towel. That is such a terrible, cheap finish. I did like the way they set up the Death Match with Storm threatening to have Roode arrested for his attack on him last night because it 1) plays in to Dixie’s “that was on your own time” thing with her saying to deal with it on his own time and 2) it was a babyface getting his way from a heel authority figure that actually made sense.

Dixie is still really struggling in this heel role.

I was very underwhelmed with Candice Larea after hearing a lot about here. To her defense the match was really short so she was probably rushing a bit and the timing may have been off just for the fact that she never worked Gail before, but she looked a little sloppy. She’s definitely athletic and has a lot of potential so I’d like to see her back but she didn’t help her cause much in this match.

Magnus and Joe was a pretty good brawl and that was the first time I’ve seen a Falls Count Anywhere Match start in the back in a long time. I’m disappointed by Joe losing but at the same time I expected Magnus to make it to the finals at least so not that surprised.

The Samuel Shaw character has my interest already. They made several small teases there and I want to see where this goes. The guy was so generic as an indy wrestler the first few times we saw him that this was a great change.

Another week, another EC3 squash, excuse me while I yawn. I guess at least we got a different opponent this time.

The Joseph Park thing was just kind of bizarre to me. I figured we would get some type of situation where Park snapped and became Abyss and it was finally revealed that they are a split personality, but it looks like this thing will continue on painfully.

Anderson and Bully was okay but after the great match Roode/Storm had it wasn’t going to be able to upstage that, but thankfully A&8 comes to an end and we can move on to something else.

Survivors Series rip off or not I’m definitely looking forward to the Elimination Match next week. I’m really thinking about going to the “Genesis” special in Huntsville in January but I’m going to need for it to be a nice, stacked card to make that 4 hour drive.

– Promo/Segment of the Night: Samuel Shaw
– Match of the Night: Roode vs. Storm (***1/2)
– Overall Grade: B

Until next week… PEACE!
