Psicosis Leaves AAA
Former WCW Cruiserweight Champion and long time AAA star, the original Psicosis (aka Nicho el Millionario), has announced via his twitter that he has left AAA. He is currently training students in Tijuana as well as wrestling around the Tijuana area mostly. He has spent the majority of his career in AAA with a brief stint in CMLL along with time in WCW, ECW, WWE, and even TNA. He hasn’t wrestled for AAA since May and this may just be a chance for him to kind of heal his body for awhile or he may be inching closer towards retirement. Unfortunately he has spent the last few years doing mainly garbage hardcore style matches and relying on weapons rather than having the incredible lucha matches he was having in the 90s and early 00’s.

AAA on El Rey Update
PWInsider revealed this week that AAA will begin taping the episodes for their El Rey show on 08/24 in Los Angeles, but that there is a chance the date may be pushed back a couple of days. They also confirmed that former ROH star Ricky Reyes has signed with AAA-US promotion and that “several former WWE names” have either signed or are finalizing deals to be on the show. Dragon Gate star Ricochet has been offered a spot on the show and considering that he was just announced as appearing at “TripleMania” I would assume he has accepted that offer. Also, former WWE writer Chris DeJoseph is working on the series as a producer. The show has been green lit for an 8-episode first season that will air in the fall, and PWInsider says that some of the pitches for ideas for storylines are “far out” in comparison to wrestling generally on TV which is not going to make traditional lucha libre fans happy.

Steve Pain Leaves AAA
Young AAA luchador Steve Pain announced via his Twitter that he has left AAA due to “personal issues.” Hijo del Pirata Morgan is replacing him in La Anarquia.

* NOTES *
– Once again AAA just slaps together a bunch of random matches for a big show, but this time it is for the biggest show of the year. It has gotten to the point where it is clear that AAA really does not care about anything going on in their promotion other than getting ready for the El Rey show in America. It is truly sad given the incredible roster they have right now.
– Only three matches on the entire card have had any type of build whatsoever. The opener which is just a random thrown together Atomicos like they have on all big shows actually has Aerostar and Super Fly who have been feuding, but Aerostar is not supposed to be in that match. He was hilariously supposed to get a shot at the Cruiserweight Title.
– Way back last month Aerostar won a multi-man match that was claimed to be a #1 Contenders Match for the Cruiserweight Title. Then without any reasoning they had a second #1 Contenders Match and Bengala won that one. Then in a trios match Fenix pinned Daga during the match and offered to put up his Fusion Title to be allowed in the Cruiserweight Title match so it seemed like it would now be a 4-Way. So what does AAA do? They throw all that out and just fling together a bunch of guys who were all in those contenders matches anyway, except for Aerostar who actually won one of them. This is beyond pathetic booking and I’m sure Konnan will have a 100 different excuses for why it happened (I’m kidding, he would pretend like he has no idea what I’m referring to). Both the Cruiserweight and Fusion Titles will be on the line and they will be unified as just the Cruiserweight Title. Ricochet will be making his AAA debut in that match. Despite all of my bitching the match will more than likely be the best of the night.
– Fabi vs. Taya was actually built up during the last few weeks as one of the only three, but this is Fabi’s first defense of the title on TV since winning the damn thing.
– How pathetic is that randomly thrown together Cage Match? Big stars in a Cage Match that has had ZERO build and just slapped together in a few days. Hell, Blue Demon Jr. hasn’t even been in AAA in moths for God’s sake minus a video package last week on AAA’s TV show.
– Instead of having Myzteziz feuding with Warrior, Perro, and Avern over the last few months leading up to a big match at TripleMania Averno has been stuck in a random cage match (where he will probably get shaved) and Myzteziz and Perro are stuck in a random multi man match for a stupid pointless trophy. The mystery guy in the match is rumored to be a CMLL star that is going to be jumping. El Terrible is the name that I’ve heard so far but I that is unlikely.
– Psycho Clown and Texano is obviously the one match that has alot of build put into it and actually feels like a big match because of that.

– La Seductora had to remove her mask after the match and Blanca announced that she was retiring.
– Volador took Sombra’s title and then challenged him to a Mask vs. Hair Match but Sombra did not accept.
– Atlantis & Guerrero took turns ripping at each others masks in the Semi-Main and following the match it was announced that Atlantis vs. Guerrero in a Mask vs. Mask Match will officially take place on 09/19 at the CMLL “81st Anniversary Show.” Rush did a lot of rudo cheating in the match and La Sombra, who was in his corner, helped out with that as well. Rush losses his hair for the 9th time.
