CMLL Luchadora Turns Down Lucha Underground
According to the Wrestling Observer CMLL’s Dark Angel, who worked in TNA as Sarita, turned down an offer from Lucha Underground to come to the promotion. There had been rumors for weeks that Dark Angel would be making the jump, but she has been working for CMLL for years so if she signed with Lucha Underground it would effectively end her relationship with CMLL.

– Fenix pinned Fantasma in the Main Event with a Spike Piledriver and then accepted Fantasma’s open challenge from the previous taping for the Cruiserweight Title so they will face each other with the Cruiserweight Title on the line at Rey de Reyes. If that ends up sticking then it will be the first time the AAA Cruiserweight Title has been defended in a singles match since last September when Fantasma beat Aerostar. It will also be just the seventh Cruiserweight Title Match to be a singles match in the titles history. The good majority of matches with that title on the line have been multi man matches. Daga (vs. Joe Lider and vs. Belial) and Extreme Tiger (vs. Joe Lider and vs. Alex Koslov) each had two singles matches when they held the title and this will be Fantsama’s second.

CMLL

Mr. Niebla Update
Alfredo of LuchaWorld interviewed Mr. Niebla at an event in California this weekend and asked him about missing the last half of the FantasticaMania tour. Niebla’s reason was that he injured his trachea somehow. Well I guess that’s an excuse.

Rey Escorpion Gone?
Wrestling Observer reported this week that CMLL’s Rey Escorpion has been taking bookings in the United States lately and he is currently teaching at a wrestling school in Arizona leading to the possibility that he has left CMLL for good. Escorpion has been one of CMLL’s most solid rudos for years.

Rey Cometa Injured
This week Rey Cometa revealed that he recently underwent a knee scope to repair ligament damage to his meniscus in his knee. Cometa hurt his knee on the first FantasticaMania show in Japan and then missed a few shows before doing the final few including the great match with Cavernario. He looked to be hobbled after returning from Japan and we now see why. No word on how long Cometa is going to be on the shelf but it should be at least a couple of months.

Mistico II Still Injured
I noted, and others have noted as well, that Mistico II looked to still be favoring his leg during the FantasticaMania tour in Japan, and it seems that was certainly the case. Wrestling Observer reported this week that a report in Japan suggested that Mistico was in severe pain during the entire tour in Japan and that after the 01/18 Korakuen Hall show he was seen in tears backstage due to the severity of the pain he was feeling. It even got to the point that several New Japan wrestlers told Mistico that he needed to go to the hospital but that people from CMLL told him that he would be okay if he just drank the pain away. CMLL should 100% be ashamed of themselves for putting Mistico OBVIOUSLY in the ring far sooner than he was ready with that severe leg injury. Mistico II has been doomed from the first time they put him in the Mistico gimmick. He went from a young, promising high flyer to being put into a gimmick, replacing one of the most popular and best luchadors in the last 3 decades in Mexico, that he was not ready to be in, and now he is being physically put back into the ring when he is far from ready.

Super Crazy Headed to CMLL?
This week Super Crazy spoke to LuchaTV and made a few revelations that would be relevant to Japanese wrestling fans as well as lucha fans. There have been rumors for months that New Japan may have bought a percentage of Pro Wrestling NOAH, and Crazy all but confirmed this by referring to the two promotions as “united as one.” Crazy went on to say that New Japan’s Jado was booking the foreigners for NOAH now as well as booking the NOAH shows. Crazy said that Jado likes him and he will be coming back to Japan in March. He said that he has an offer to join CMLL and is thinking about it, but also has offers from AAA and Lucha Underground. Super Crazy’s interview was later taken down for YouTube for some reason.
