This was a threat to review. I love The Shield; and I am huge fan of these guys. Yes, even Roman Reigns. This is one of the best groups that has come along in recent years. And this DVD, or Blu-Ray, set is outstanding.

The documentary is basically the special that is on the WWE Network at the moment. However, it is freaking awesome. As a fan of the group, I am so pleased that this exists and it is one that I’d buy any day of the week.

The documentary is in the usually excellent WWE style and follows the group from their heel introduction complete with a rundown of the members, the rise to superstardom and their dissemble last year.

Each chapter is presented in spectacular HD and the neat little bite size chapters are a great way to keep you hooked. The clear divide that this structure builds in makes the next section even more appealing. This follows the various feuds that have made up a lot of WWE TV over the past few months concerned with Rollins, Ambrose and Reigns.

It doesn’t have everything up this very day, but for fans like myself, it has everything that I want. I watched the WWE for The Shield. And with them gone, things kind of suck. Watching this set did make me really long for these days to return. But in doing so, this set is now up there with Jericho’s DVD for me as one of my personal favourites.

“But Darragh, I have the WWE Network, I don’t need this DVD!” I hear you ask, people of the village. Yes, you do, right now. Why? For the matches! Holy cow, they are unreal!

Aside from the stand out and show stealing tag matches that the group had on various WWE PPVs in their run: The 6-Man Tag Team TLC Match – The Shield vs. Ryback & Team Hell No from TLC in 2012 and the 6-Man Tag Team Match which pitted The Shield (Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose) vs. The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper & Erick Rowan).

The set is also home to the unreleased, and hard to find, FCW material of the three men before being called up to the main roster in 2012. Wow, are these matches great. Look, just buy this set. You need to see the 15-Minute Time Limit for the FCW 15 Championship match between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. Their rivalry in FCW is legendary.

For the overall presentation, content and the fact that it’s a stellar chronic of The Shield this one gets a huge thumbs up from me. If you’re a fan of The Shield, or any of the guys that were in it, you NEED this set in your life. The Blu-Ray is a must for the extras and the glorious visuals that WWE in HD can offer. Get this now!
