Lucha Underground Returning for Season 2
For months there has been much speculation about if and when a Lucha Underground season two would happen, and there has even been claims that the show was getting canceled. This week Lucha Underground finally announced that El Rey has officially renewed Lucha Underground for a season two. While the specifics have yet to be confirmed it was also revealed that the show will again tape from The Temple in L.A. and will begin taping in the fall of this year and begin airing in early 2016. The likely start date for season two is February which is what we had heard previously as well. Alberto el Patron was confirmed as appearing for season two as well by Lucha Underground writer Chris DeJoseph but then Alberto responded on Twitter by saying that he had not re-signed yet. Alberto has been very vocal about criticizing Lucha Underground in the past but losing him would be a big blow to the group.
Hernandez Released by Lucha Underground
This week Lucha Underground officially announced that they had parted ways with Hernandez. Hernandez had been the center of some controversy a few months back when he returned to TNA despite the fact that he had not been released from his contract by Lucha Underground yet. As a result TNA parted ways with him and now Lucha Underground has as well.
Alberto el Patron Retains WWL Title
This past weekend AAA World Champion Alberto el Patron successfuly defended his WWL Heavyweight Title against fellow AAA star Ricky Banderas (El Mesias) in Puerto Rico. On the same show Juventud Guerrera defeated Carlitos and Lucha Underground star Ivelisse Velez succesfully defended her WWL Womens Title against Santana Garrett and Andrea in a Triple Threat. Alberto’s brother Hijo de Dos Caras was uncessful in winning the WWL TV Title against champion Tua and Ash in a 3-Way Dance.
