AAA/LUCHA UNDERGROUND

Huge Debuts, Spoilers in Lucha Underground

At this weekend’s Lucha Underground TV Taping former WWE World Champion and current AAA star Rey Misterio Jr. finally made his debut with the promotion. Lucha Underground announced the signing officially Saturday and during the taping Rey debuted during a big Aztec Warfare Match to determine a new Lucha Underground Champion. I think they may be doing an injury angle with the former champion, Mil Muertes, which led to this but am not sure just yet. Rey and Fenix had a long sequence together which was said to have been awesome. Another debut happened late in the match as Dario Cueto made his return to the Temple. He revealed his brother, the long discussed Matanza, who would actually end up pinning Rey to win the title. Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alverz revealed during their podcast Sunday morning that Jeff Cobb is the one under the Matanza mask. Cobb was signed by Lucha Underground last year but did not appear during Season One on TV. He is a very, very young wrestler but is really talented and is a former Olympic wrestler. Matanza came back in the second taping and even destroyed fan favorite Pentagon Jr. during the show.

Lucha Underground Announces Season 2 Debut

This week Lucha Underground and El Rey finally announced that season two of Lucha Underground will begin on January 27th. There still has been no announcement on how many episodes season two will be though. Also, this weekend Lucha Underground released an amazing trailer for season two which also featured the first appearance of Rey Misterio Jr. in it. The video can be seen below:

Alberto Blames AAA For Him Not Appearing

WWE United States Champion, and former AAA World Champion, Alberto del Rio did an interview this past weekend with Cancha and he blamed AAA for him not dropping the AAA World Title in the ring. He said that AAA changed the dates on the shows he was going to appear on and because of that he couldn’t appear because he had conflicted dates with WWE. This comes off as him trying to spin and put all the blame on AAA, but AAA really is very disorganized so even if he is trying to blame everyone but himself for the way things happened there still probably is at least SOME blame that should go on AAA.

CMLL

Mask vs. Mask Cage Match Headlining iPPV

This week CMLL announced that the upcoming 12/25 “Infierno en el Ring” event will be airing on iPPV with the Main Event being a twelve man Steel Cage Match with the loser being unmasked. The luchadors in the match will be The Panther, Blue Panther Jr., Esfinge, Fuego, Triton, Pegasso, Tiger Kid, Puma King, Cancerbero, Raziel, Sangre Azteca, and Super Comando.

Guerrero vs. Thunder Match Finally Set

The never ending feud between Ultimo Guerrero and Thunder will finally come to a conclusion on 01/01 for CMLL’s “Sin Piedad” event in a Mask vs. Hair Match. This feud has been going on for the majority of 2015 and the Mask vs. Hair Match has been teased for months. I’m sure Guerrero will go all out for the match to try and make it decent but Thunder is honestly one of the worst “main event” luchadors in all of Mexico. He is truly terrible.

Dorada Defending Title in Japan

This week NJPW announced that Mascara Dorada would defend his CMLL Welterweight Title against Tetsuya Bushi on 12/19 in Japan. This is the first time Dorada will have defended the title in his entire year in Japan. They have barely even acknowledged the title, not to mention barely done anything of note with Dorada in general. Bushi had a long run in Mexico a few years ago, mainly working for IWRG. Bushi and Dorada have been feuding for less than a month.

– This was Sharly Rockstar/Charly Manson’s first match in four years. He, Mephisto, and Ciber were wearing Los Hell Brothers t-shirts. The rudos attacked the referee causing a DQ and they continued to beat down Mistico II after the match. Caristico ran out and made the save which led to a staredown between Mistico II and Caristico. They eventually shook hands and said they were started a group together that may also include Volador.
