OH WRESTLEVIEWNIVERSE! DON’T YOU DARE BE SOUR! CLAP FOR YOUR WORLD FAMOUS SMACKDOWN REVIEW AND FEEL THE POWWWAAAHHHH…

Hello friends and welcome back to Layin’ The SmarkDown! After a crazy week at home, I am right back to covering my thoughts on the fun times that is “Thursday Night SmackDown” so let’s do it to it, Lars!

Opening Promo: Funny thing happened on Monday night…Roman Reigns won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on RAW! Hope that wasn’t too much of a spoiler for you, but I mean, Roman was right there in the ring for this segment with the title so it’s not like the big Star Wars reveal everyone’s talking about. You know, the one where Kylo Ren’s dad is actually…

Anyways, this was a good and decent promo from Roman, and it continues this new trend of him just not giving a rip and taking on anyone that gets in his way. Congrats to him on winning the title, especially on his daughter’s birthday. That’s really cool.

ADR/Ryback: Good match, really enjoyed Ryback’s intensity coming off the loss on Monday. It’s nice to see League of Nations getting more involved in these side feuds, too.

Side Note 1: Breeze and Goldust looks like it could be a fun feud. I enjoyed that bit of interaction in the segment this week.

Breeze/O’Neil: Good match with a focus on Goldust now getting involved. Good laughs from Goldust taking selfies with Breeze’s selfie stick.

Ambrose Interview: Dean being good as always on the mic here, promising he’s not going away anytime soon.

Wyatt Promo: This was a good watch, but very confusing. These promos are the kind you’d expect from a transitional period (that is, a time where we move on from one feud to the next). I suspect this feud isn’t over just yet, but if it is…where do we go from here?

New Day/Lucha Dragons: Absolute GOLD from New Day on the mic before the match, and a PLATINUM match between them and the former NXT Tag Champions. That finish was particularly amazing, and if you could watch just one moment from SmackDown this week, I’d dare say this would be it.

Ziggler Interview: Good bit of attitude from Dolph Ziggler, talking about all the effort he puts in and promising not to step down from the challenge ahead of him.

Brie/Becky: Good match from both women, with an emphasis on Charlotte’s involvement at the end. Interesting to see Team BAD out at ringside, too. That was a good little bit backstage to help set a possible Becky/Charlotte feud up. I think that feud would be fun to watch, because we know they’re both capable of really good matches.

Owens Interview: Fun little interview from the former IC Champ, who is definitely not happy about losing the title. I do like that, with Reigns being forced out of the building, much of the focus was on other feuds and angles tonight, and the situation between Owens and Ambrose definitely got a good boost from it.

Main Event: This match was brilliant and you should go out of your way to watch it. Go find it now, I’ll be here when you get back.

Welcome back. It was good, yeah? It was honestly refreshing to see Dolph wrestling someone other than Tyler Breeze (I think they haven’t wrestled that often against each other, but something about the whole feud made it feel like they wrestled every week…). Owens being the big brawler and Ziggler trying his best to fight back was something magic. The finish was especially good, where Owens beat Dolph down so hard he was disqualified for it. It was almost shades of the beating he gave Sami Zayn en route to winning the NXT Championship. Ambrose with the save, only to eat a superkick by Ziggler leaves things very open ended as we start the road to Royal Rumble, which in turn means we start to head into Wrestlemania season!

Well, that’s it for this week! What did you think of the show? Are you a fan of how things are right now, as we slowly get ready for Wrestlemania? Do you think you’ve worked out where they’re headed this year with WM booking? How amazing WAS that spot by Sin Cara!? Let me know in the comments or on Twitter @Power2TheSmarks!

Also, as a cheap plug, Occupy Pro Wrestling is getting ready for Season 2 of our Pick Ems League. Last season we tested the waters…this season we dive in headfirst! We’re covering WWE, TNA, ROH, PWG, CHIKARA, and more and offering prizes to those who can correctly guess what happens on live PPVs, Network specials, and indy shows! Contact me for more information, I will have a sign up form ready for a new mailing list for all your Pick Ems updates going forward.

Till next time, Wrestleviewniverse, this is Alex Kahrs reminding you to be excellent to each other. Party on, dudes!
