AAA/LUCHA UNDERGROUND

Octagon Unmasks Octagon Jr. Publicly
Over the weekend Octagon Jr. (Flamita) was doing an autograph session in Mexico when the original Octagon stormed into the signing and began to berate Octagon Jr. and AAA for “stealing” his gimmick. Octagon Jr. never responded while the original was ranting and then Octagon actually grabbed Octagon Jr.’s mask and ripped it off his head in one of the most pathetic, shameful, and disrespectful things I’ve seen in Lucha Libre in quite some time. Octagon Jr. quickly covered his face and walked away rather than confront Octagon for what he did and that may have been for the best as some reports stated that Octagon had an entourage with him that were armed. This is getting out of hand and if AAA doesn’t give their talent some form of security at events like this then they are part of the problem. Octagon has been an old, bitter drunken fool for quite some time and this is just another instance of him proving how unprofessional he truly is. Super Nova of AAA spoke out against Octagon for what he did, calling him unprofessional and saying if he has an issue it should be with AAA’s office not with the performer. El Hijo del Santo defended Octagon in the situation and even called out Tinieblas Jr. in the process, by posting a picture of Tinieblas with Axxel (Santo’s nephew who Santo actually sued to make sure never got to use the “Santo” name in any form), saying that he will stick up for Octagon despite others like Tinieblas not being willing to stick up for him. Tinieblas actually responded by telling Santo to keep his name out of this and even threw Octagon under the bus by pointing out that the picture Santo posted was at an event that Octagon hosted (hilariously ironic). L.A. Park also chimed in on it when asked by reports. He said that he understood Octagon’s anger but called him a hypocrite because when Park was battling AAA over his name Octagon was one of the AAA wrestlers that stuck up for AAA in that situation. The problem here is that Octagon doesn’t have the ability to think logically. Joaquin Roldan also spoke out about Octagon’s issues and suggested some legal matter will be taken on this. Later in the week Octagon claimed to now realize he was “wrong” in the way he acted and that he was just so angry that he did it without thinking. The fact that he came with armed bodyguards and had people filming the incident shows otherwise as he had obviously planned the stunt. What seems to be the real reason for why he did it is that he is planning to debut a new “Hijo del Octagon” who he claims to have trained (more on that in the Indy section). The video of the incident is below.

Blue Demon Jr. Blames Airline for Missing Flight
This week Blue Demon Jr. finally spoke out on him missing “Rey de Reyes” a few weeks ago. He claims that the reason he didn’t make the show was that there was a problem with the airline. He says that he is an independent luchador but will continue to work with AAA.

Rey Misterio Jr. & Hijo del Fantasma Returning Soon
AAA announced during their most recent TV Taping that Rey Misterio Jr. would be returning to AAA soon and he is expected to have a big match at TripleMania. No word on when that return may be but I would expect either right before Verano de Escandalo or at that show. Also, Hijo del Fantasma was saying on Twitter that he would be back in AAA “in a few weeks.” This is pretty odd as Dave Meltzer has said for a few months now that Rey would likely not be back in AAA and that Fantasma was attempting to get out of his contract with AAA and Lucha Underground, which is why he hasn’t been appearing for either of late. I can say, though, that Mucha Lucha ATL said this past week that they had been unable to book Hijo del Fantasma for an upcoming show because Fantasma had been injured and didn’t know when he would be back. Either way both of those guys returning is terrific news for AAA, especially considering AAA looked pretty rough as of late. Dave Meltzer claimed this week that Rey still had two dates left on his original contract with AAA, when he had the pay dispute with them, and he plans to honor those two dates but likely won’t agree to any further dates going forward.

L.A. Park Leaves AAA Before Even Starting
Last week it was revealed that L.A. Park was returning to AAA this month but then suddenly mid week he returned to Lucha Azteca/All-Elite, along with his son, attacking Cibernetico. He will also be the “mystery person” that All-Elite has been advertising as the final member of the Liga Elite Tournament. His last run with the promotion lasted less than a month.

Ivelisse Injured
Recently Ivelisse Velez revealed that she has broken her foot again, as well as torn ligaments, which will sideline her for quite some time.

Pentagon vs. Fenix Coming to AAW
This week American Independent promotion AAW announced that they have signed Pentagon Jr. vs. Fenix for their 05/06 Take No Prisoners” event in Marionette Park, Illinois. Last month Pentagon debuted with AAW and faced ROH’s Raymond Rowe.

Japanese Stars Coming to Lucha Underground
Dave Meltzer revealed this week that Lucha Underground is bringing in stars Io Shirai, Kairi Hojo, and Mayu Iwatani in as they have signed with the promotion. The three are considered to be among the best women wrestlers in the world, and primarily work for Japanese promotion Stardom. Shirai is 25 years old while Hojo is 27 and Iwatani is just 23 years old. Shirai has worked a slew of matches in Mexico including for AAA so she is very familiar with lucha. Hojo and Iwatani have also worked in Mexico as well but far less than Shirai. They’ve all worked with a number of luchadoras in Japan as well.

– Fabi tried to get her sister, Mari, to come back to the tecnico side before their match in the segunda but Mari refused. She still teamed with Fabi and Maravilla and even scored the pinfall, but she refused to celebrate with the other tecnicos after the match. The rudas attacked her and the tecnicas saved her leading Mari to make peace with her sister finally.
-Marvin defeated the new Bengala with a German Suplex. No word on who it might be under the Bengala mask. Dinastia is my guess as he seems to be very short, even shorter than Drago.
– Angelico made his return in the fourth match and helped Jack pin Pentagon. After the match Pagano, Damian, and Halloween ran out and attacked Pentagon and company again. They revealed their new name to be La Nueva Familia Fronteriza.
– AAA announced Rey Misterio Jr. was returning soon.
– Brian Cage made his return to AAA in the Semi-Main. Texano had issues with Mesias and Cage during the match leading to the loss. Cage and Mesias beat Texano down after the match.
– Psycho pinned Wagner after a lot of interference and screwy referee stuff.

– There were some mystery people, in masks, sitting ringside during the Semi-Main. It ended up being L.A. Park and Hijo de L.A. Park. They attacked Cibernetico leading to his team losing. Park cut a promo on Ciber after the match. Park said that his two goals left in lucha is taking the hair of Rush and the mask of Dr. Wagner Jr., which is really interesting considering Wagner is currently in AAA/Lucha Underground.
– Caristico-Volador was said to be really good with fans throwing money in the ring.

INDY & OTHER NEWS

Octagon Presents Hijo del Octagon
After all of the drama this week with Octagon and Octagon Jr., Octagon held a press conference on 04/13 and announced that his son would be taking up the Hijo del Octagon mantle. He claims the son to be his legitimate son. He says that Hijo del Octagon is 24 years old and was trained by Octagon, Rey Misterio Sr., and Abismo Negro. Octagon also revealed that he has 15 year old twin sons from an extramarital affair with an unnamed luchadora. The thing is that no one, including Dorian Roldan from AAA, even knew that Octagon had ONE son, let alone three. It is a very strong possibility that this Hijo del Octagon is just an Indy wrestler that Octagon either convinced to take up the mantle or is being paid to do so (much like many of the Hijo de Rey Misterio’s in the past). Another fishy thing is Octagon claiming that this son trained with Abismo Negro and Rey Misterio. Abismo Negro died in 2009 so that would mean this kid had to have trained with Abismo, at the very least, when he was training with Abismo when he was 17 years old. That is definitely very possible in Lucha Libre but for a second generation wrestler to have been training with two legends that would have been difficult to keep under wraps all of this time (nor would it make sense to keep it secret). Rey Misterio Sr. also hasn’t been training anyone for years now because of his health. Octagon claimed Hijo del Octagon will be started with All-Elite soon and that he has spent the last few years in the United States in a “criminology” career. If all of this sounds like “BS” to you, well you are probably right.
