On Saturday night, January 10th, 20 of VPW??’s best will enter the ring to determine who will be the first ever VPW New York Champion. The entrance order will be determined at random prior to the show??’s start and wrestlers will enter at timed intervals. The final four men left in the ring will then go on to compete in a fatal fourway where the new champion will be crowned. Rivalries will be renewed and partners may be forced against each other. There??’s no telling how wild and explosive this night will be!!

VPW Tag Team Championship
E.J. Risk & Justin Toxic vs. Suburban Swat Team (???Suburban Bad Boy??? Joey Everlast & ???Prince of Suburbia??? Johnny Suburban) w/ Mikey Old School
The Suburban SWAT Team may be on a roll as the new VPW Tag Team Champions, but they have a great challenge ahead of them in Justin Toxic and E.J. Risk. Toxic and Risk have all the ability, but that ability is overshadowed by a rotten attitude. Mere minutes after the SST captured the gold, Risk and Toxic interrupted their celebration and challenged the SST to a match. Suburban and Everlast did not appreciate their actions and are looking to teach Risk and Toxic some respect, Suburban style.
VPW Championship
???Best Body In The Business???So The Ladies Say??? Jason Static vs. ???
Jason Static has been successful in every match that he??’s defended the VPW Championship in. His originally scheduled opponent, Ricky Reyes, is unable to make it to the event due to international commitments. Reyes had been granted a title match having already defeated Static??’s Best Bodies, Inc. partners, Sabotage and Joe So Delicious. With Reyes unable to make it, VPW officials are deciding on a new opponent for Static to defend the VPW Championship against. Without a guaranteed opponent to prepare for, can Jason Static begin 2009 in the same fashion that he ended 2008??
Tag Team Warfare
???The Resurrection of Tag Team Wrestling??? Eclipse (Jay Delta & Xandar Page) vs. Funky Fresh Boyz (K-Funk & K-Fresh)
Two of VPW??’s top teams will be going at it one on one for the first time ever. Eclipse are the former champions, looking to get back on top while the Funky Fresh Boyz are looking to go out with the old and in with the new in 2009 and become the new champions. This match will certainly have big ramifications on the tag team title scene where both teams have as much to lose as to gain. In addition to this big match, all 4 men are entered in the Gold Rush Rumble and may face off twice in one night.
Singles Action
Rhett Titus vs. Richie Tyler w/ Dani
Titus had an impressive showing a few months ago and is coming back to VPW to give the ladies some more. Unfortunately for Rhett, his opponent will be Long Island??’s own, Richie Tyler. Tyler has been with VPW since day one and has a lot of success. Accompanying Tyler to the ring will be his student, Dani. Dani has been training nonstop in order to get ready for her debut match. Rhett may fancy himself a ladies man, but he should be careful not to try any of his moves on Dani.
Other VPW News
The Jerry Fitzwater Show will be live in Centereach. Jason Static is the scheduled guest and has made it known that he wants to continue to get Mikey the Security Guard in tip top shape. Static is guaranteeing results!
Since she first appeared in VPW, Rayna Fyre has had a personal vendetta against Dani the ring announcer. For whatever reason, Fyre has gone out of her way to make Dani??’s life miserable. Feeling that enough was enough, Dani, under the strict training of Richie Tyler, has been working nonstop in order to prepare for her first ever wrestling match. Unfortunately for Dani, Fyre appears to suddenly be ducking her. While she may have to wait a bit longer for revenge, Dani promises to make an impact on January 10th.
It looked as if James Sullivan was picking his shots and ducking his former partner, VSK, but a match was finally set for January 10th. This would have been the first time the two members of Livewired were set to meet one on one, but after carefully reevaluating the situation, VPW officials have cancelled their match. Livewired was one of VPW??’s most successful tag teams, but jealousy appears to have driven James Sullivan to levels of dementia. For the safety of VSK and the VPW fans, there will not be a singles match between James Sullivan and VSK. Both men will have to go about their business and move on. VSK wants his revenge and is protesting this decision, but nonetheless a decision has been made.

Season 8 of CHIKARA goodness gets rolling on Sunday, January 25th at the former ECW Arena (now New Alhambra) when we unleash “Revelation X” en route to our annual smorgasbord of wrestling goodness…March’s massive “King of Trios 2009”!!!
First, an update about our January 25th event. All-American mat man Tim Donst took a nasty spill back at our season finale show “Duel and Duality,” and has been diagnosed with 3 bulging discs in his back. CHIKARA officials have decided the most responsible thing to do is bench Donst for this upcoming event. We hope he recovers fully and can return at 100% promptly.
Also, the CHIKARA Director of Fun, Leonard F. Chikarason released a statement today that we want to share with you:
“Since formally announcing King of Trios 2009, we’ve been bombarded by requests from teams – both in house teams from CHIKARA, and from outside promotions – looking to enter the tournament. In years past, we would have simply used this opportunity to make the tournament larger in size, but not this year. We’re sticking to 16 trios, and that’s that. Therefore, because we already have too many CHIKARA trios petitioning for entry, we have randomly picked 6 of them to face-off in qualifying matches. The three winning trios will advance into the opening round of the tournament, and the other three will just have to wait until next year.”
