Massive Q won the Australasian Championship on 15 January after defeating all in a 3 month Tournament to crown a new Champion after TNT had to relinquish his title due to injury. Blakestone became number 1 contender defeating Massive Q’s team mate “Ringmaster of the Freakshow” Il Cognito on the 16 April Cube event. THIS IS AWF WRESTLING @ GOSFORD
GOSFORD RSL CLUB
SUN 18 JULY – 3PM

The Australasian Wrestling Federation (AWF) returns to the Central Coast to present wrestling at Gosford RSL for the first time in an afternoon of fun filled up close and personal live pro-wrestling action. The “This Is AWF Wrestling” lineup will feature the rising wrestlers of the AWF showcasing their talents in 6 entertaining pro-wrestling bouts, in an event suitable for all ages.

The show itself will be bustling with energy, with an huge card planned that will feature a variety of different personalities and wrestling styles, with many wrestlers looking to establish wins and make new fans in the Gosford RSL debut event.

The main event for the evening will be one of the biggest bouts of the year, featuring for the first time these two current team members going head to head. This intriguing bout will see two of the most popular wrestlers of the AWF pitted against each other in what has the potential to be one of the match ups of the year. It will see “Detonation Crew” team members explode, as 6 time Australasian Champion TNT takes on 2009’s Most Popular Wrestler Iron Jay Coles. Both men are at the top of their games. TNT has 15 years experience, has faced the best in independent wrestlers in the world and has been a mentor to Iron Jay, teaching him many skills to make it in pro-wrestling. Iron Jay is raw energy and his youthful strength and skill have made him one of the hottest properties in pro-wrestling today. This bout will be a classic, with sportsman like athletic action as the showcase, so don’t miss it.

In another main event caliber bout, Commonwealth Champion Powerhouse Theo will battle with number one contender Bill Flyswat, with Max Comic as Special Guest Referee. In 2009 Comic and Flyswat were Tag Team Champion’s as the “Gosford Giddyups”, until Flyswat turned on his partner after the team’s loss of the Titles. In December, 2009 Max Comic battled partner Powerhouse Theo in a Commonwealth Title Bout, and Theo’s brutal finishing move “The Powerbomb” ended the bout and broke Comic’s humorous bone, shelving him from wrestling to this day. At Cessnock in March, Bill Flyswat was powerbombed and at defeat, when his new friends Grant Linstrom & Freddie Falco stormed the ring and attacked Theo, leaving him for dead. Max Comic entered afterwoods to help Theo to the back. There is so much history in this bout between all men, and the stakes will be the Commonwealth Championship. Comic has promised to remain impartial and will not favor Theo, saying he will call it down the line, and do his best to keep “Elite Wrestling” and “The Detonation Crew’s” other members away from ringside. This will be a high stakes battle to say the least.

If that’s not enough 170 kg Australasian Champion Massive Q will go up against two men at one time in DJ Fusion & The Illusionist. Will these two fast exciting up and comers be able to take it to a man who weighs just as much in a single body? Be there to find out.

In other exciting action we will see Six Person Tag Team action with Frankie Fettucini & Traffic, together known as the “Cornershop Connection” joined by women’s star Mighty Mel taking on the “Greatness” Grant Linstrom, Flyin’ Freddie Falco and Baby Devine of “Elite Wrestling”. There will be a Young Lion’s Championship bout as “Mint Condition” Mick Moretti takes on Rob “The Scientist”, and contenders tag team action will see The Island Tribe take on The Meat Massacre.
A massive card with 6 huge bouts in all! Event promises to be a fun filled afternoon suitable for wrestling fans of all ages.
AWF promoters are keen to bring AWF to Gosford on a regular basis, so be sure to support this event if you are one of the many that has called for regular quality wrestling in the area, and AWF will respond accordingly.

Show Notes:
– Tama & The Samoan Warrior beat former Tag Champs Team Astronomy after a communication bungle led to an opening for a fall away and Air New Zealand splash.
– Max Comic interviewed Sir Loin in a Max’s Open Mic segment. Loin said he would prove he was best big man in AWF and would come for the AWF Title someday. This bought out Q and The Freakshow. Q invited Sir Loin to join, he declined, then the Freaks beat him up, until TNT & Iron Jay stormed the ring with chairs to save him.
– “Emo Kid” Ashley Rain made his debut, losing to Young Lion’s Champion Mick Moretti.
– Despite having hometown support, Falco & Linstrom were not able to defeat Frankie & Traffic for the Tag Titles.
– In the Commonwealth Championship bout, Powerhouse Theo scored with “The Powerbomb” but the pin was stopped by Falco and Linstrom. Flayswat and the two interferers attacked Theo and Bill proclaimed the formation of his group “Elite Wrestling”. Max Comic tended to Theo afterwoods.
– Newcomer DJ Fusion had enough of Selene’s arrogance by the end of their bout, that he thwarted her off to Mighty Mel for The Illusionist & Mel to score the win.
– TNT announced Sir Loin would be the mystery partner to The Freakshows dismay. In the end Sir Loin scored the win by pinning AWF Champion Massive Q with a 135 kg crossbody off the top rope. The building shook and Loin got the upset pin. Detonation Crew celebrated after woods.
– A fun show, AWF thanks those who attended.

Attendance: 70

Results: Young Lion’s Championship: Mick Moretti b Emo Kid Rain, Tag Team Gauntlet: Pestilence b Illusionist & Spaceboy, Cornershop Connection b Shane Saw & Sir Loin, Grant Linstrom b DJ Fusion, Commonwealth Championship: Powerhouse Theo b Tama Williams, Mystery Opponent Challenge: Baby Devine (debut) b Mighty Mel, TNT b Freddie Falco DQ, TNT & Iron Jay Coles b Bill Flyswat & Freddie Falco, Omega b Samoan Warrior, Australasian Championship: Massive Q b Robbie Barnes

Show Notes:
– During the Morreti Vs Rain YLC bout Pestilence came to ringside. Morretti pinned Rain with the Mint Slice, and afterwoods Mortis & Toxin berated Rain. Spaceboy & The Illusionist entered and started the Tag Gauntlet.
– Rain pushed The Illusionist off the top rope causing Pestilence to get the advantage and take the first fall. Shane Saw & Sir Loin entered next, and with both teams down, the Cornershop Connection entered the bout and cleaned up and eliminated Saw & Loin. Rain tried to help in final fall again but Traffic & Frankie outsmarted Toxin & Mortis & took the win.
– Grant Linstrom moved back into title contention defeating DJ Fusion with the Greatest Jawbreaker in wrestling in a competitive bout.
– Powerhouse Theo represented Australia strongly, downing NZ’s Tama Williams with the Powerbomb retaining his Commonwealth Title.
– Mighty Mel’s Mystery oppenent was called out, and Elite Wrestling entered. Bill Flyswat addressed the audience telling that they would dominate all divisions, and now it was time to introduce their women’s competitor… Baby Devine. Devine went on to win the bout with a Boston Crab which almost broke Mel’s back. Afterwoods Devine continued to stomp on the back of Mel, while Falco bullied Mel. This bought TNT to the ring. He told Falco he wasn’t tough for picking on a little girl, and asked the crowd if he should face a man. Falco attacked TNT from behind, but the assault didn’t last long until TNT pounded Freddie and locked on the Dynamite Clutch until Flyswat interfered for the disqualification. Flyswat & Falco then kicked at TNT while Devine taunted him, leading to Iron Jay saving his partner TNT. Tony Kebab declared a tag match between the Detonation Crew and Elite Wrestling. The match went ahead and Jay pinned Falco after a Detonator and Iron Splash combination.
– Omega upset Samoan Warrior breaking his undefeated Dojo streak.
– Massive Q down Robert The Scientist when it looked like Barnes was about to take the win, Spaceboy entered and overzealously through a testube of “Winning Formula” into the ring. An average throw saw it land near Q, who grabbed it, and drank it down. He immediately charged up and crushed The Scientist and took the win. Spaceboy & Mel entered afterwoods, and a riled up Spaceboy declared he wanted a Title shot against Q, and that Team Astronomy would win the Tag Team Titles at The Cube in July.

– Event was taped and will be edited for future DVD release.

AWF NEWSWIRE WINTER 2010

– Autumn is another season in the record books now, with it being notable that all Championship’s remained intact and many new wrestlers emerged, including the formation of a new faction.

– Massive Q remains Australasian Champion fending off all competition in his rampage across Australia during Autumn. Q has defeated top line competitors TNT & Robbie Barnes (NSW), Krackerjack (VIC), Kyote and Sorrow (QLD) amongst others, and even two men at once on a few occasions. The amount of title defenses in such a short time shows that he is being a fighting champion, despite constant back up from his partners in “The Freakshow”. Upcoming bouts will see him face Mick Moretti at the AWF Dojo “Mid Year Mayhem” event, and he will have a title defence against Blakestone on 9 July at The Cube in Campbelltown. Love or hate him, Q has had a dominant first few months since becoming champion.

– AWF Tag Team Champions “The Cornershop Connection” have also remained on top of the Tag Team heap, with victories over all current regular tag teams. Traffic’s recent singles bout with Kasey Jackson at The Cube on 16 April however did not fare so well. He was pinned after distraction from Selene. Frankie Fettucini will have the pleasure to attempt to revenge his partner, as he will face Jackson at the Cube on 9 July.

– “Mint Condition” Mick Moretti’s Young Lion’s Championship reign heads into its ninth month, and the competition keeps coming. In March Mick downed contenders from Qld in the form of Mason Childs and Josh Haze, plus fended off new challenges from Emo Kid Rain and DJ Fusion. Upcoming at the Dojo on 26 May, will see Moretti face Massive Q in a special Champion versus Champion non-title bout to mark the middle of the year.

– Congratulations to Powerhouse Theo as he has passed the 1 Year mark of being AWF Commonwealth Champion. Autumn saw Theo defend once again in heated bouts against the likes of Tama Williams and Mark Hilton, but the strength and momentum of Theo again proved to be too much as he triumphed in victory. Bill Flyswat has stated that his new faction of “Elite Wrestling” is targeting Theo’s Championship, and want the bragging rights to end his reign. Upcoming at the AWF Dojo on 26 May, Powerhouse will face Korea’s “The Masked Musa” and then has future challengers such as Flyswat, The Samoan Warrior and Sir Loin all lining up for Title shots.

– For those of you who didn’t know, AWF has a new website layout up. It’s at our same address www.awfwrestling.com.au . It is similar to our previous website, however possesses superior capabilities for cataloguing of results, which will become apparent in future months. DVDs, T-Shirts, Tickets and more are all there, so check it out regularly!
Be sure to also check out the designers of the new layout, The Sell Network at http://www.thesellnetwork.com/index.php and see what they are up to also.

– AWF welcomes all its new students starting at the AWF School of Pro-Wrestling at the start of June for the Winter Beginners Semester. Applications for the Spring Semester are now also open for the next course. All interested please send an email to info@awfwrestling.com.au for an application. Looking forward to seeing you all in the ring soon.

– AWF’s next School Holiday “Dreamcamp” open to all ages will be 13-16 July. 4 consecutive days of wrestling tuition 10am – 3pm culminating in a taped bout. Fun for all ages. Cost is $300. Please send an email to info@awfwrestling.com.au for an application or call 0410691377 for more details.

– Supanova Brisbane and Melbourne are in the books, and once again were fun events, highlighted by the dominance of Massive Q as AWF Champion. The Supanova juggernaut rolls onto Sydney on 19 & 20 June and Perth on 26 & 27 with AWF taking centre stage at 12, 2 and 4pm daily. Sydney will host the annual Supa-Tournament, with surprises galore guaranteed, and the winner to receive a future AWF Title shot. Be sure to come along and be part of these Supa-fun weekends. Match line ups will be on the events page of the AWF Website in the coming week.

– Upcoming events are looking to be some of our most loaded possibly ever. The talent in AWF is currently going from strength to strength with our Australia wide network growing daily.
Mid Year Mayhem at the Dojo on 26 June will be another huge 8 Bout event, and then the Cube on Fri 9 July will be even huger with 12 bouts, featuring the best from around Australia including Victoria’s Krackerjak, Mark Hilton, TNT, Blakestone, SA’s “The Maniac” Wayne Mattei, Powerhouse Theo and Australasian Champion Massive Q. Tickets for these events are on sale at the AWF website now.
After these huge events it is onto PsychoticSlam, where it will be the highest level of competition and will see former TNA star “Player from The Himalaya’s” Sonjay Dutt appear for select dates.
Things aren’t going to be cold in AWF this Winter. Keep up to date with shows and match line ups by visiting the AWF Website Events link and ordering tickets online.

– Former TNA X Division stand out and Zero-1 regular Sonjay Dutt will debut in AWF on August 27-29 PsychoticSlam events. He will face TNT in Penrith, Massive Q in Newcastle and Iron Jay Coles in Fairy Meadow.
He along with TNT will also hold a seminar on Sat 28 August at the AWF Dojo in Minto focusing on X Division style. Cost is $100 Email info@awfwrestling.com.au to reserve your spot.

– Miscommunication has been aplenty in the Team Astronomy Camp at recent events. At Cessnock in March the team went down to “Island Tribe” team of Tama Williams and The Samoan Warrior, and then April they lost to friends The Illusionist and Gravity. At the Fighting Spirit event on 22 May, Robbie almost had the AWF Championship won until Spaceboy entered the frey to defend Mighty Mel, but in the process threw Rob’s “Winning formula” potion into the ring, which Q grabbed and drank. Q then manhandled “The Scientist” and Massive Splashed him for the win. Afterwoods, Spaceboy petitioned Q for a bout at a future card to The Scientist’s apparent disdain. Mighty Mel has been in the middle of it all trying to keep the team on track, and win the Tag Titles back, which they vacated in December due to the team miscommunicating again and not showing up to the Central Coast event on time.

– TNT was ambushed by The Freakshow after his Title shot on 16 April at The Cube and received bruised ribs after a series of Massive Splashes. After a stint in the hospital, TNT returned to action in a bothered state at the 22 May Dojo event against Freddie Falco and Bill Flyswat. Despite the injuries, TNT says he will fight on, and is looking forward to his big 15 Year anniversary event at Panthers on 27 August with a bout against India’s Sonjay Dutt. Tickets are available from Panthers now.

– Korea’s Masked Musa makes his debut at the AWF Dojo on 26 June. Many are asking who this oriental warrior is? He is said to have an impressive martial arts background and has spent time in the Korean Military. His translator told AWF he is coming to win Championships and break week young Australians.

– Speaking of newcomers, Emo Kid Rain, Anubis and Baby Devine all debuted on recent events. AWF welcomes Owen Fitzpatrick to working behind the scenes.

– People interested in working with AWF please contact info@awfwrestling.com.au . We are looking for dedicated volunteer all rounders to help with a variety of tasks. Must be competent, have transport, & good personal skills. The perfect chance for those wanting to break into the wrestling business, especially behind the scenes to help make a difference. Booker/Writers/Dreamers want to be’s need not apply.

– Blakestone has apparently more than raised the ire of “The Freakshow” with his recent rescue of TNT, and then defeat of Pestilence and Il Cognito at the 16 April Cube event. Massive Q says he is looking forward to dominating Blakestone at the huge Cube event, and Blakestone’s mission of winning the AWF Australasian Championship this year will end there. Be sure to be at The Cube on 9 July. Tickets available at the AWF website, or on The Cube website or the Campbelltown Catholic Club from 12 June.

– AWF Wrestlers such as Massive Q, Mighty Mel, Max Comic and Mick Moretti among others spread cheer and raised money for the Starlight Children’s Foundation during May. AWF visited the Starlight Room in Westmead seeing sick children, and then participated in the Starlight Day celebrations in Martin Place. AWF urges it’s fans to support the Starlight Children’s Foundation if possible.

The No Pain Train Iceberg! of NWA Anarchy joins the Wrestling Hotseat at http://www.myvirtualbc.com !

Whether you know him as Edward Chastain from NWA TNA or as NWA Wildside and later NWA Anarchy’s dominant heavyweight force, one thing is for certain, the man known as Iceberg has had an extraordinary career. Join us for a 68 minute uncensored interview with one of the top NWA stars! Iceberg discusses with me at length, being the protégé of the legendary Abdullah the Butcher, what he learned from him, how he shaped his career and how teaming with him, fighting against him and also working with legends like One Man Gang, Carlos Colon, and New Jack helped develop his brutal and sadistic style.

Iceberg holds nothing back as he discusses his short time in NWA, his thoughts on agent Scott D’Amore and we discuss what is wrong with sports entertainment and all that is right with professional wrestling. We also discuss how the term independent is wrong and why people don’t consider smaller promotions as keeping the heritage of the territory system alive. We also talk about his involvement with super manager Jeff G. Bailey, the tag team with Tank, working in IWA Deep South against Ian Rotten and Mickie Knuckles, Ace Rockwell and Shaun Tempers Pomp & Circumstance, his matches with The Universal Solider Phil Shatter, and perhaps the most infamous moment in NWA Anarchy history, the formation of Reverend Dan Wilson’s Devil’s Reject alongside Tank & Azrael. He also discusses his retirement and a heartfelt return and the crowd response and the wrestlers…

Come and listen to the career story of one of professional wrestling’s unsung heroes and I encourage you to check out NWA Anarchy website and television show and the NWA Wildside tribute sites so that you can learn why the New National Wrestling Alliance is quickly becoming one of the most talked about promotions in professional wrestling today.

Iceberg is one of the most interesting guests I’ve had and talks about all this and much more including his return to NWA Anarchy and what that means for the fans!

NWA Anarchy holds television tapings the first and third Saturday every month at the NWA Arena in Cornelia, Georgia. For ticket information
