CAN MARION FONTAINE BACK UP BIG WORDS AGAINST HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN?

www.PWOwrestling.com

In the fall of 2007, as Pro Wrestling Ohio came into formation, “Megastar” Marion Fontaine was one of the first men to join this soon-to-be elite roster of young dreamers looking for glory. With his colorful trunks, funky music, ample mustache, and loud, colorful personality, Fontaine was immediately looked at as the feel-good, light-hearted, entertaining member of the PWO roster. Someone who can make you forget your problems, suppress your concerns, and enjoy his unique style and undeniable presence.

As time went on, Fontaine was clearly a hit within PWO, and amongst the fans, so Fontaine’s already ample personality was built upon even further. With the addition of characters like Macho Grosh, Noj the Samoan, and Kid Cupid, “Fontaine’s Freaks” was born, a collection of social outcasts and sideshow-like attractions that brought a very different element to pro wrestling TV, and was heralded by many as among the promotion’s most entertaining staples.

However, towards the end of 2009, Fontaine’s Freaks had seemingly run its course. Personal, family, and health issues led to the departure of all of Marion Fontaine’s sidekicks, leaving “The Megastar” a man alone. Though rather than move on and embark on a new chapter in his career, Fontaine decided to dwell on the past. Apparently channeling months of building anger and frustration, Fontaine delivered several very public, scathing, and unprofessional tirades toward PWO management, questioning them for their “genius marketing ideas” and for taking the best wrestling in PWO, himself, and saddling him with a group of freaks Fontaine claims to have never wanted anything to do with. Fontaine has publicly insulted and defamed PWO as a whole, not to mention everyone in it. Fontaine has taken the past three years of effort and sacrifice by PWO in investing their time in him and re-payed it with nothing but scorn and malice. Promising to expose the lies and the wrongs perpetrated by PWO, Fontaine has cried “conspiracy theory” and has convinced himself PWO is denying him opportunities because of the way he looks or acts. But one rant too many against Pro Wrestling Ohio and those in it may have led to Fontaine sealing his own fate.

“Hacksaw” Jim Duggan is one of the most beloved, revered stars of all time. With his trademark 2×4, American flag, and shout of “Hoooooooooo!”, few have built up such a rapport with their fans than Hacksaw. Originally rising to prominence in Bill Watts’ Mid-South Wrestling promotion, Duggan debuted with the World Wrestling Federation in 1987 and almost immediately rose to become one of their most popular attractions. Memorable battles with men such as Andre the Giant and Ted DiBiase, as well as anti-American such as Iron Sheik and Dino Bravo only added to this man’s appeal. In 1994, Duggan migrated to WCW, not losing a step, and even pinning Steve Austin to win the WCW United States Title. In the late 1990s, Duggan began a battle of another kind, as he was stricken with stomach cancer. Undeterred, Duggan used the same fighting spirit he had demonstrated all his career, to not only beat the cancer completely, but make a full comeback to professional wrestling, including a number of matches and appearances in the WWE throughout the past several years.

On Sunday afternoon, August 1st, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan takes this same competitive spirit with him into Pro Wrestling Ohio. After meeting all of his great Cleveland fans, “Hacksaw” will bring his 30 year career filled with tradition, patriotism, and pride into battle against a career now filled with selfishness, paranoia, and ego on Marion Fontaine. If Fontaine can defeat this timeless legend, all his claims could be held as true, and he will catapult to the top of Pro Wrestling Ohio. But what becomes of Marion Fontaine if he doesn’t succeed? Where will his next step be if his chance to prove he is the best in PWO ends up unsuccessful? It’s “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan vs. “Megastar” Marion Fontaine in a pivotal moment for both men THIS Sunday at the Nautica Pavilion at PWO Wrestlelution 3!
