National Pro Wrestling Superstars closed out its busy Spring 2011 schedule with a less-than-stellar executed show (at least in management’s opinion) on Saturday night June 4th with a return to Stirling, NJ’s Long Hill Township Community Center, where a decent (and certainly loud and energetic) Saturday night crowd came out to see all the action.
Before the show, the fans greeted and got autographs and pictures from former WWE stars Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart & Hall-of-Famer Nikolai Volkoff.
MATCH #1 – THREE-WAY CRUISERWEIGHT MATCH: “Mr. Entertainment” J.D. Smoothie vs. Jumping Joey Janela vs. Mystery Opponent
This was originally scheduled to be a three-way NWS Cruiserweight Title Match with the current champion Spyral, but Spyral suffered an extremely serious neck injury earlier in the week and is out of action indefinitely. Smoothie took the microphone and demanded that the Cruiserweight Title be immediately forfeited to him as the longest-reigning former champion. NWS management said they had not decided what to do with the title just yet, but they did have a substitute opponent for tonight, heralded as one of the best high-fliers on the circuit today… and out came the nearly 500-pound Nigerian Nightmare La-Fu. Smoothie and Janela were obviously not prepared for this obvious non-Cruiserweight, and the match was basically a two-on-one affair as they both tried to take down the opponent who weighed almost twice as much as both of them put together. After being initially seriously out-powered, a series of kicks by Smoothie & Janela brought the big man to his knees, but their double suplex attempt on La-Fu was reversed into a suplex on both of them. A low blow and some more well-placed kicks slowed down La-Fu for a short time, but La-Fu brawled his way out of it, and despite both Smoothie and Janela hitting him with their flying finisher attempts, La-Fu prevailed, reversing Janela’s sleeperhold attempt into a rolling splash and flattening Smoothie with a spin-kick and a powerbomb for the 1-2-3.
Winner: Nigerian Nightmare La-Fu
MATCH #2 – “The Warrior” Jack Spade (with manager Romulus The Great) vs. “Retro Rocker” Ricky Roxx (with special guest manager Long Hill Police Officer Tommy Sciaretti)
After Romulus insulted the crowd and Spade, Roxx and Officer Sciaretti came out to great cheers. Roxx put up a tremendous effort, but Spade had the experience on his side, plus the outside interference of Romulus. Towards the end, Roxx reversed Spade’s “Thunder-Bomb” attempt into a hurricanrana and readied a superkick attempt to finish off Spade. Romulus leaped up onto the apron to stop Roxx’s momentum, and when Roxx and the referee went after Romulus, Spade seized a Wet Floor sign and leveled Roxx with it. The referee turned around, saw Spade covering Roxx, and counted the 1-2-3.
Winner: “The Warrior” Jack Spade
MATCH #3 – FALLS-COUNT-ANYWHERE INTER-GENDER TAG-TEAM MATCH: NWS Junior Heavyweight Champion “The Love Machine” Nicky Oceans & Manuel Manny Moore (filling in for the NO SHOW Jamila Craft) vs. NWS Tag-Team Champion Jersey Shore Jocks member Mike Dennis & WSU star Tina SanAntonio
The rules were simple… any wrestler (male or female) can pin any opposing wrestler (male or female) anywhere in the building. And the fight did indeed go all over the building, including the merchandise tables and the Community Center’s gym equipment racks. After multiple near-falls outside the ring, the action finally returned to the ring, where Oceans leveled Dennis with a chair then tried to smash Dennis into it in the corner, but missed Dennis and hit the chair himself. Dennis drop-kicked Oceans and Moore into each other, knocking Moore out of the ring. Dennis F5’ed Oceans, Tina leveled him with a legwhip and a DDT, and Dennis finished him off with a flying splash for the 1-2-3.

MATCH #4 – NWS HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE RETURN MATCH – LUMBERJACK MATCH: Rampage Rogers (champion, with manager Romulus The Great) vs. Jeff “Cannonball” Guerrero (challenger)
This match was made after outside interference affected their last meeting in Stirling. The lumberjacks were wrestlers Ricky Roxx, J.D. Smoothie, Mike Dennis, Joey Janela, Nicky Oceans, Draven, and Corey Havoc, plus Long Hill Township police officers and firefighters. Cannonball was clearly the crowd favorite, and asserted his power early, but Rogers’ experience countered. The lumberjacks didn’t appear to get along any better than the wrestlers, as every time one of the wrestlers went outside, the lumberjacks brawled with him and each other before he was thrown back into the ring. Towards the end, Cannonball powered out of a sleeperhold by Rampage and hit him with a flurry of offense. Rampage stopped the momentum and went to the top rope, but Cannonball knocked him off. When Cannonball went for his Cannonball Roll on Rampage, Romulus leaped onto the apron and distracted Cannonball and the referee. Corey Havoc and Draven tried to take advantage of the distraction and jumped into the ring and attacked Cannonball, but referee Sargeant Jimmy Storm saw the interference and immediately called for the bell.
Winner (by disqualification): Jeff “Cannonball” Guerrero. (Rampage Rogers retains the NWS Heavyweight Title.)
After the decision was announced, Rampage and Cannonball brawled all the way to the back, but Havoc and Draven were clearly angry at Referee Jimmy Storm for disqualifying Rampage, and attacked him two-on-one. Security was unable to stop the attack, but former WWE star Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart ran out to save Storm, and Havoc and Draven retreated to the outside. Havoc said that Neidhart is a has-been and should stick to signing autographs in the back. Neidhart insisted he’ll stay here long enough to kick the **** out of Havoc and Draven, and Jimmy Storm took the microphone and asked The Anvil to team up with him against Havoc and Draven later that night, and Neidhart happily agreed.
During intermission, the fans posed for pictures with Neidhart and Nikolai Volkoff in the ring (which, as NWS always boasts, was something the fans could never do at Madison Square Garden or The Meadowlands), and NWS celebrated birthdays.
Mayor Emeritus Al LiCata and Long Hill Township Police Officer Gary Bauer were introduced as guest ring announcers for the final match.
MATCH #5 – CO-MAIN EVENT: “The Cold-Hearted Playa” Danny Demanto vs. WWE Hall-of-Fame alumnus Nikolai Volkoff
Nikolai, at the request of the fans, sang the opening bars of his rendition of “Cara Mia”, but Demanto seized the microphone from Nikolai and insisted he would bury the “fossil” that was Nikolai tonight. An angry Nikolai had other plans, and was able to match power with Danny. Danny, frustrated by being out-powered, threatened to leave, but the fans’ taunts of “Chicken!” (accompanied by a playing of the “Chicken Dance”) got him back in the ring. A furious Danny got Nikolai down, and in a twist of irony locked Nikolai in a Camel Clutch (the move made famous by Nikolai’s former WWE tag-team partner The Iron Sheik). Nikolai powered out (apparently having learned a thing or two about the move as well) and the two brawled some more until Danny got Nikolai down and went for his moonsault finisher, but missed. Nikolai hit the stunned Danny with a rolling shoulder splash and covered him for the 1-2-3.
Winner: Nikolai Volkoff
MATCH #6 – CO-MAIN EVENT (or please stick needles in my eyes bout) – TAG-TEAM GRUDGE MATCH: NWS Hardcore Champion “Corrupted” Corey Havoc & Indian Chief Draven (with manager Romulus The Great) vs. former WWE star Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart & “Wrestling Referee” Sargeant Jimmy Storm
Jimmy Storm took the microphone and said that as a referee, he goes over all the evening’s match contracts, and told NWS Commissioner Gino Moore that he did not recall seeing Romulus’ name on the contract for this match. Commissioner Moore looked at the contract and agreed, and gave the Long Hill Township police officers in attendance the honor of removing Romulus from the ring, which they happily did. While Havoc and Draven complained to the referee about the loss of their manager, Storm and Neidhart attacked them from behind and the brawling ensued. Storm and Havoc, no strangers to each other, brawled inside and outside the ring, with Storm holding his ground against Havoc, but Havoc and Draven eventually took advantage of Storm’s inexperience and double-teamed him. But the Gulf War veteran Storm, accustomed to fighting his way out of tight spots, fought his way out of a sleeperhold and powered Havoc into a corner and tagged in Neidhart. Neidhart cleaned house on both opponents, and smashed Havoc and Draven’s heads into each other, knocking Draven out of the ring. Neidhart held up Havoc,and Storm delivered a “Hart Attack” clothesline on Havoc, and Storm covered Havoc for the 1-2-3.
Winners: Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart & “The Wrestling Referee” Sargeant Jimmy Storm
