AWE sent these notes in.

C.W. Anderson: Who’s next?

CW Anderson
C.W. Anderson was getting ready for Terry Funk, but then he found out that the AWE brass was leaning toward having Funk match up with Tommy Dreamer at the Night of Legends pay-per-view on Oct. 15.

Anderson has an idea as to why.

“They’re telling me, C.W., you can’t face Terry Funk, he’s 126 years old. You’ll destroy him,” said Anderson, who is in limbo as AWE officials scramble to find an opponent for him for the pay-per-view.

The difficulty in finding somebody willing to step in the ring with Anderson is not a surprise to Anderson, either.

“You see, the Andersons, they know hardcore. When you go back in time and you watch the video, the Andersons invented hardcore,” Anderson said.

“So now they don’t know who The Enforcer is going to take to the extreme. But get ready, because this extreme Horseman is coming for a vengeance,” Anderson said.

Sonjay Dutt: ‘Pick me, Kev’

Sonjay-Mystery Partner?
Kevin Nash needs a tag-team partner. Sonjay Dutt has someone in mind.

“Who better than Sonjay Dutt?” Dutt said in a video message to Nash posted on the AWE website today.

Nash served as a mentor to Dutt in TNA, teaming Dutt with Jay Lethal and working with the two in the ring and out to try to get the youngsters over.

Now Dutt wants to repay Nash for helping give him a boost in the wrestling business.

“Kev, you and me go way back. We’re tight like this. We have a bond that none of these other competitors have, Kev,” Dutt said.

DDP: ‘I’m retired’
Speculation has intensified about Diamond Dallas Page being the “mystery partner” for “Big Sexy” Kevin Nash in the main event at the AWE Night of Legends pay-per-view.

Page, for his part, that he’s “still retired.”

“People say, DDP, who do you stay in contact with? Kevin Nash has been like my brother for over 20 years,” said Page, who teamed with Nash as the Vegas Connection and then as The Insiders and won a WCW Tag Team Championship together.

Nash is openly looking for a partner to replace Marvin Ward, who had been scheduled to be Nash’s partner in the main event, but was injured in a post-match attack by The Rock-n-Roll Express at a house show in Woodstock, Va., last week.

The talk about Page being inserted into the main-event slot in place of Ward has centered on the fact that Page ran to the ring to fight The Rock-n-Roll Express out of the ring after their attack on Ward.
Page denied that there was anything more to the save than what met the eye.

“Kevin asked me to watch Marvin’s back. That’s it,” Page said.

Real Pro Wrestling Is Back!
AWE Night Of The Legends PPV – Saturday, Oct. 15
Kevin Nash, DDP, Rock’ Roll Express, Terry Funk, ‘Hacksaw’ Jim Duggan, Tommy Dreamer
FISHERSVILLE, Virginia (September 27, 2011) –Professional wrestling returns to its hardcore roots Saturday night, October 15 when 30 all-stars appear at the “AWE Wrestling: Night Of The Legends”Pay-Per-View event, live from Augusta Expo in Fishersville, Virginia.
Wrestling icons being showcased include “Big Sexy” Kevin Nash, Diamond Dallas Page (“DDP”), The Rock-n-Roll Express, Terry Funk, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, Fit Finlay, Tommy Dreamer, Amy “Lita” Dumas, Perry Saturn, and many more.
The Awesome Wrestling Entertainment extravaganza will be available for live viewing at 9 PM/ET – 6 PM/PT on both cable and satellite pay-per-view via iN Demand, DIRECTV, AT & T and Verizon in the United States, as well as Bell TV in Canada, for a suggested retail price of only $24.95. The broadcast will also be available live on an Internet pay-per-view basis at AWEonPPV.com and GFL.TV.
“AWE is all about old-school wrestling with today’s look – glitz, glamour and a light show to rival any other wrestling pay-per-views,” AWE founder Marvin Ward explained. “It’s the best of both worlds. This is what real pro wrestling fans want, not the soap opera shows they’ve been getting. Instead of watching the typical 2 ½-hour-pay per view with four matches and two hours of talk, AWE is pro wrestling from start to finish: less talk, more action.”
Ward, a former wrestler himself turned entrepreneur had more to say: “Young wrestling fans will have an opportunity to see legends who they’ve heard so much about, while older fans will be able to turn-back time, watching their heroes again. Young fans will see where wrestling evolved from and how it got where it is today. This is an opportunity for young and old fans to come together as wrestling families, enjoying a memorable evening, one that will probably never happen again with so many wrestling legends featured on one show.”
The feature match pits 7′ 1′, 300-plus pound Kevin Nash, a former WWE and WCW World Heavyweight Champion, and his mystery tag-team partner, somebody who could very well be an infamous member of ‘The Clique,” against former three-time NWA Tag Team Champions, The Rock-n-Roll Express. Ricky Morton, one half of famed “The Rock-n-Roll Express” along with Robert Gibson, and Nash have had a hateful relationship for a decade, and the two are going to settle the score Oct. 15 in front of a live national television/Internet audience and packed live house in Virginia.
To determine the real King of Hardcore wrestling, ageless Terry Funk goes to war with former ECW superstar Tommy Dreamer. Funk, a two-time heavyweight champion in the ECW and NWA, as well as a multi-organization Hall of Famer, has inspired countless wrestlers aspiring to emulate his hardcore style of wrestling. Dreamer, known as the hardcore heart-and-sold of the ECW, is a 14-time WWF/WWE Hardcore Champion and two-time ECW world title-holder.
Patriotic”Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, proudly waving an American flag with his trademark 2 X 4 in his other hand, will enter the ring to take on Mohammad Akbar, the sneering son of an Arab-American oil magnate.
The biggest comeback in wrestling history will take place when, after a nine-year absence, past WCW and WWE star Perry Saturn returns to face enforcer CW Anderson.
Also scheduled to be in action is former WWE and WCW title-holder Fit Finlay against 21-year-old rising-star “Loose Cannon” Alex Silva, who is considered a future AWE World Heavyweight contender. He will have “Nature Boy” Buddy Landel in his corner. Sonjay Dutt faces Jamin Olivencia.
The action doesn’t stop there. Also scheduled for this exciting Awesome Wrestling Entertainment (AWE) card is former three-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion and one of the most popular wrestlers of all-time, Diamond Dallas Page (“DDP”),as well as Amy Dumas (formerly known as Lita), former World Tag Team Champion and member of the “Four Horsemen,” Tully Blanchard and Babydoll, in addition to Midnight Express, Ivan Koloff, and Tommy “Wildfire” Rich.
All wrestlers and matches are subject to change.
