Finlay gets good news on knee

Good news for Fit Finlay: Initial reports that Finlay had suffered a serious knee injury in his match against Alex Silva at the AWE Night of Legends pay-per-view have turned out to be inaccurate.

Finlay did suffer a strained ACL in his left knee, according to a source in the AWE front office with knowledge of the situation. The injury occurred in the match with Silva after Finlay awkwardly hit a turnbuckle trying to break his momentum following an Irish whip across the ring.

Finlay collapsed into a heap in the ring, and referee Chris Sharpe looked to be ready to call the match off and declare Silva the winner before Finlay made a game return to the ring.

Silva went for the injured knee immediately and used a series of submission holds to try to get Finlay to tap out. Finlay rallied late to score two near-falls before Silva got the 1-2-3 with a schoolboy rollup.

Silva may have ended up the worse for the wear after the match. A Finlay forearm shiver late in the match broke Silva’s nose in two places.
