AAA’s first major event of the year “Rey de Reyes” (King of Kings) kicks off March 18th from Auditorio Benito Juarez in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico, and AAA is most definitely treating it like a major event with the 2012 Rey de Reyes Tournament Finals, AAA World Heavyweight Championship on the line, a lumberjack match, and a Hair vs. Mask Steel Cage Match!
Kicking off the PPV will be the massive 12-person Steel Cage Match which will feature masked luchadors, exoticos (cross dressing luchadors), and luchadoras (female wrestlers) all inside the Steel Cage! The match will be held under escape rules with the last person left being forced to shave their head or unmask! Male luchadors El Elegido, Aerostar, & Alan Stone; luchadoras Fabi Apache, La Hechicera, & Sexy Star; exoticos Pimpinela Escarlata, Pasion Kristal, & Yurkio; and minis Mascarita Dorada, Octagoncito II, & Mini Histeria will all compete inside the cage!
In a Lumberjack Trios (6-Man Tag) Match former Heavyweight Champion Cibernetico will team up with Billy el Malo & Escoria to face La Parka Jr. and his high flying team of the youngster Dark Dragon & Tito Santana II. Also, in Trios action The Psycho Circus (Monster Clown, Murder Clown, & Psycho Clown) face off against the legendary Octagon and Los Maniacos (Silver Kain & Ultimo Gladiador).
Last month AAA legend Juventud Guerrera made his shocking AAA return and at “Rey de Reyes” he will team with his former Mexican Powers partner Joe Lider in a Fatal 4-Way Tag Team Match as they face Chessman and a mystery partner, Los Perros del Mal representatives and lucha legends Nicho el Millonario (original Psicosis) and Halloween, and finally the team of last years Rey de Reyes winner Extreme Tiger and young up and coming high flyer Daga!
In another big Trios Match the tecnico (babyface) team of Dr. Wagner Jr., Heavy Metal, & Electroshock will meat the invading El Consejo faction of Texano Jr., Toscano, & Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. with the stipulation being that if El Consejo falls then they can never step foot in a AAA arena again! If El Consejo wins then the invasion continues! If you’re not familiar with this storyline, El Consejo is a group of invading wrestlers that all used to work for CMLL (which stands for CONSEJO Mundial de Lucha Libre) similar to that of the nWo storyline in America. They have attacked both rudo (heel) and tecnico AAA wrestlers weekly since invading AAA.
In the Semi Main Event the 2012 Rey de Reyes will be crowned in a Four Corners Elimination Match! The winner earns a future AAA World Heavyweight Championship shot. This years contestants are Perro Aguayo Jr., Hector Garza, Jack Evans, & the legendary L.A. Park! Perro beat Juvi, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., & Cibernetico in the 1st Round; Hector Garza beat Heavy Metal, Toscano, & Joe Lider in his 1st Round Match; Jack Evans beat Chessman, Texano Jr., & Nicho el Millonario; and L.A. Park beat La Parka Jr., Electroshock, & Silver Kain in his match.
Finally, in the Main Event TNA’s Jeff Jarrett will FINALLY defend the AAA World Heavyweight Championship against AAA’s El Mesias. Will TNA continue to hold AAA’s biggest championship or will Mesias finally rest the belt that he’s been chasing for months away from the “King of the Mountain?”
