ROH Showdown in the Sun iPPV Results- 3/30/12

Ring of Honor “Showdown in the Sun Day 1” iPPV Results 3/30/2012 Ft. Lauderdale, FL

Report by Jason Namako of Wrestleview.com

Unfortunately, this will not be a detailed recap of the show tonight because of the hindering audio issues with Go Fight Live. Also with that being said, there will be also be no post-show tonight after the iPPV goes off the air. I apologize for any inconvenience this may bring, but it was next to impossible to follow the Go Fight Live stream with all of the audio lag issues that took place in the 1st hour of the show. So with that being said, here is what happened tonight on the Showdown in the Sun Internet PPV.

1. Proving Ground Match:
Ring of Honor Tag Team Champions “The Baddest Tag Team on the Planet” #DemBoys The Briscoes (Jay & Mark) defeated TMDK (Mikey Nicholls & Shane Haste) by pinfall with the Doomsday Device.

Jim Cornette introduces the NWA World Champion Adam Pearce, and brings up that Pearce had defeated ROH’s Adam Cole under questionable circumstances the night before. Pearce asks Cornette if he’s going to lecture him on questionable use of the rules, and he says it feels good to be home, but last night the marquee didn’t read ROH, it read NWA. Cornette says Cole gave him everything he could handle and he knows it, and Pearce agrees that he’s a star and he may be the future of the company and he’s good, but he’s not great. Adam Cole comes out to say that Pearce has some good points, and he’s not going to make better excuses, but Cornette wanted to put him to the test, so he’s going to do that against one of the best in the sport. Cornette also said he wanted him to learn something from this fight, and he learned that if he gets one more shot at Pearce, he knows he can beat him. Pearce says that if he wants to do that, they have a ring and they can get a referee and can do it right now. Cornette wants them to slow down and says he doesn’t have the authority to put the NWA Title on the line, but if a referee can get down to the ring, he can make this match right now. So looks like we have an impromptu match…

2. Non-Title Match:
Adam Cole defeated NWA World Heavyweight Champion “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce by pinfall with a roll-up after countering a piledriver attempt.

After the match, Pearce adhered to the Code of Honor.

3. Dual Duel Night #1 in a Tornado Tag Team Match:
The All Night Express (Kenny King & Rhett Titus) defeated The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) by pinfall when Titus pinned Nick with an O’Connor Roll.

After the match, The Bucks attacked Titus’s previously injured right knee with a steel chair.

4. Ring of Honor Television Title:
Jay Lethal (c) defeated Kyle O’Reilly by pinfall to retain the title with the Lethal Injection.

After the match, Lethal & Tommaso Ciampa, who was at ringside, had a staredown as Ciampa & The Embassy Limited are still in possession of Lethal’s Television Title belt.

Intermission

5. Ring of Honor on Sinclair TV Return Match:
Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin) defeated The C & C Wrestle Factory (Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander) by pinfall when Benjamin pinned Alexander with a top rope belly-to-belly suplex.

6. Old School vs. New School:
“The Prodigy” Mike Bennett w/”The 1st Lady of Ring of Honor” Maria Kanellis defeated Lance Storm by pinfall with a TKO.

After the match, Bennett went to extend his hand to Storm, but suckered him in it and laid Storm out with the Box Office Smash.

7. “La Revancha!” in a Last Man Standing Match:
“Wrestling’s Worst Nightmare” Kevin Steen defeated “The Generic Luchador” El Generico when Jimmy Jacobs interfered and turned on Generico, hitting him with the spike and a steel chair shot to the head to force Generico to not be able to answer the 10 count.

8. Main Event in a Triple Threat Elimination Match for the Ring of Honor World Title:
“American Wolf” Davey Richards (c) defeated “Die Hard” Eddie Edwards & Roderick Strong w/Truth Martini by pinfall to retain the title. First, Strong eliminated Edwards with a small package. Finally, Richards eliminated Strong with a roundhouse kick.

After the match, Michael Elgin laid out Richards with the 360* Powerbomb and promised to win the title tomorrow to close the show.

Once again, apologies for this not being a more detailed recap and the fact of no post-show. We will be back tomorrow afternoon, hopefully with a better production job by Go Fight Live with Day 2 of Ring of Honor’s “Showdown in the Sun”.

See ya tomorrow!
