Tomorrow night, June 15th, Ring of Honor makes its way to Charleston, WV and The Charleston Civic Center for the very first time! We are bringing a loaded event with us capped off by a World Title Match with “Wrestling’s Worst Nightmare” defending against former champion “Die Hard” Eddie Edwards! We’ve got a Texas Death Match, a Four Corners Proving Ground, Radio Wars, and more of the best pound for pound pro wrestling on the planet for our fans in West Virginia! And as a thank you for your support, we will also be holding a special Meet & Greet prior to the bell with several ROH stars including Davey Richards & The Briscoes!!! Tickets will be available at the door and read on for more details on what brought us to Charleston where “The Nightmare Begins…”

ROH World Championship Match
“Wrestling’s Worst Nightmare” Kevin Steen defends “Die Hard” Eddie Edwards

On May 12th, in Toronto, at our last iPPV offering known as “Border Wars”, the face of Ring of Honor underwent a drastic change. “The American Wolf” Davey Richards lost the ROH World Title to Kevin Steen, Steve Corino embraced his darker nature and stood at the side of Steen once again. The Unholy Trio of Steen, Corino, and Jimmy Jacobs stood poised to wreak havoc on ROH with promises to tear it down & rebuild it as they see fit. The first man who will step up to the plate and look to end this burgeoning nightmare early will be the first Triple Crown Winner in ROH history, “Die Hard” Eddie Edwards.

In recent weeks Eddie has opened up something of a “Die Hard” challenge where he has demanded to face former World Champions in order to keep himself at the top of his game should opportunities like this one arise. He has beaten Rhino and Davey Richards in the last month, he has Homicide in his immediate future at “Best in World 2012”, and as announced yesterday, a rematch with Rhino on tap for Pittsburgh on 6/30. Add into all that a recent tour of Pro Wrestling NOAH and Edwards has been pushing himself as hard as ever to maintain his peak physical condition, to be ready for any World Title opportunity. And now that chance comes with the expectations of many attached to it: ROH management, the locker room, a number of the ROH faithful; all are looking for Kevin Steen’s title reign to come to a quick end and it is on Edwards’ head to make that happen. The history between these two men is littered with battered bodies and broken bones; will this next chapter of their book end with the words “The Nightmare Begins…” or with “New World Champion”?

Texas Death Match – The Final Encounter
Jay Briscoe vs. Charlie Haas

As with Eddie and Kevin, the history between these individuals and their teams has been well documented. From their trading of the ROH World Tag Titles at “Final Battle 2011” & “Border Wars” to Jay & Charlie’s Unsanctioned Fight at “Battle of Richmond”, violence has been the calling card of both The Briscoes & WGTT. “Border Wars” saw the last tag team confrontation between the duos but the way in which WGTT captured the win led to Jay challenging Charlie to meet him in that Unsanctioned Fight. Then, after getting themselves disqualified not once but twice in the same night, WGTT again found a way to look like scumbags even in a fight with no rules as Shelton Benjamin liberally got involved to help Charlie beat Jay Briscoe via low blow. Calling Jay angry after that would be like calling a hurricane simply a breeze…a huge understatement, and now, with no Shelton Benjamin to get involved, Jay & Haas will meet in a Texas Death Match and it will be their final encounter. No belts are in contention, no opportunity to even earn a title shot for The Briscoes; it is just Jay looking to beat the hell out of Charlie with nothing holding him back & no one else getting involved…

Special Challenge Match
Jay Lethal vs. “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin with Truth Martini

Michael Elgin has had a banner year in 2012, so was Jay Lethal before the combined machinations of The House of Truth & The Embassy conspired to cost him the ROH TV Title. Now in Charleston, Lethal and Elgin will lock horns as the former TV Champion looks to gain a measure of revenge against the HoT. Lethal is on a heck of a hot streak after ending Tommaso Ciampa’s undefeated streak & beating Roderick in their 2/3 Falls contest in Dayton, will “Unbreakable” be the man to bring a stop to Lethal’s run?

Four Corners Proving Ground Match
ROH World TV Champion Roderick Strong vs. BJ Whitmer vs. Kyle O’Reilly vs. Adam Cole

The stakes are high for Roderick in this one as three men attempt to earn a TV Title shot simultaneously! BJ Whitmer made his return to ROH in a Proving Ground match opposite Jay Lethal, both Cole & O’Reilly have unsuccessfully challenged for the belt in recent months, but now all three individuals have another chance in a situation that certainly does not favor the champion. Unlike standard Proving Ground matches, there is NO time limit in this one nor does Strong need to be the man beaten for his opponent to earn a TV Title match. Cole can pin O’Reilly, BJ can pin Cole, Kyle can finish off Whitmer, and Roderick can do nothing about it but watch as someone earns a shot at his title. Martini, as to be expected, railed on to ROH officials about how unfair this match is but now the onus is on Roderick to prevent anyone from earning a shot at his TV Title. He managed to prevent it once before at “Defy or Deny” when Strong survived three competitors all looking to earn a World Title shot, can he make history repeat itself?

Davey Richards vs. “No Fear” Mike Mondo

Davey Richards has his sights squarely fixed on regaining the ROH World Title at “Best in the World 2012: Hostage Crisis” but in Charleston it will be a different opponent in his crosshairs, a man who has increasingly impressed ROH officials over the last year, “No Fear” Mike Mondo. This is without a doubt the biggest test of Mondo’s ROH career and a victory here would certainly catapult him into championship discussions. With “The American Wolf” laser focused on the ROH World Title, it could also be the best shot Mondo has at scoring the upset win.

“Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV Rematch
The All Night Express (Rhett Titus & Kenny King) vs. Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander

A battle between these two teams aired the weekend of 6/2/12 on “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV and saw ANX capture the victory but ROH officials were so high on that bout that the rematch was immediately signed! The ANX are sorely pissed off after being screwed out of their World Tag Title match by Charlie Has in Richmond a few weeks back, a title match they had waited months to get after beating WGTT in a Proving Ground late last year. ANX are facing a rematch for the World Tag Titles at “Best in the World 2012: Hostage Crisis” which is wonderful for them but could also prove wonderful for C&C. Will ANX be too focused on WGTT and let this one slip out of their grasp? Caprice & Cedric, as they have proved time and again, are no slouches, and are also in line for a World Tag Title match themselves after beating The Briscoes in a Proving Ground match. This victory is just the sort of one they need to keep themselves ready for that inevitable title opportunity…

Radio Wars
Mark & Jay Briscoe (with K-Rock’s B.T. in their corner) vs. Totally Awesome (Chris Silvio & Paredyse w/ The Planet’s Reevis in their corner)

Also Signed To Appear:
– Steve Corino

IN ADDITION… ROH will be holding a special Meet & Greet prior to the show with ROH World Champion Kevin Steen, “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin, “The American Wolf” Davey Richards, & the 7-Time former ROH World Tag Champions Jay & Mark Briscoe!

Our Charleston, WV debut is looking to be a huge one so if you are in the area, even if you’re not, make the drive to the Charleston Civic Center and make sure you witness the absolute best in-ring wrestling action you can see anywhere! Given who currently holds the World Title, the level of unpredictability is at an all-time high. Will Eddie Edwards be able to claim the title for the second time in his ROH career or will Friday night June 15th indeed mark the night that “The Nightmare Begins…”
