Last night, at Absolute Intense Wrestling’s Absolution 7, Tim Donst ascended to the top of AIW, winning the Absolute Title in an intense, surprise four way elimination match. Donst didn’t have long to celebrate, as immediately following his victory, the house lights at Turners Hall were cut. When they came back up, Donst was surrounded and assaulted by four men wearing Richard Nixon masks.

Outnumbered and exhausted, Donst was brutally beaten by the four men, one of whom unmasked, revealing himself as Chris Dickinson—a man who hadn’t been seen in AIW for over two years. AIW security, management, and the wrestlers in the locker room swarmed the ring, the scale of violence quickly escalating until the three other masked men revealed themselves as Eric Ryan, Rickey Shane Page, and Bobby Beverly, at which point a full-scale riot broke out in the arena.

Tables were smashed, chairs thrown, the AIW entrance set trashed, and innocent bystanders attacked. It was an absolutely chaotic end to an already chaotic night, and it left the wrestlers, the management, and the fans of AIW scratching their heads. Why would Page, Ryan, and Beverly do this to their home promotion? Why have they aligned themselves with Chris Dickinson? How will AIW respond? How far do their goals reach? Not much is known at this moment, but, following Absolution 7, the group posted this video on YouTube:

In it, they make it clear that their attack was not just a message to AIW, but a message to ALL independent professional wrestling bookers, promoters, and talent, from the ring crew to men like DJ Hyde and Gabe Sapolsky, that wrestling needs to evolve, or it needs to die.
