Pre-show matches available only to those fans from the New York bus trip, and seats in the front four rows)

  • Kyle O’Reilly over Adam Cole in a back & forth opening to get the crowd warmed up.
  • Jon Moxley over B-Boy via submission following an armbreaker over his knees and an armbar to tap B-Boy.
  • “God’s Middle Child” Eddie Kingston v. Hallowicked (who was later added to Qualifier 1) was postponed due to a massive accident and traffic jam on the New Jersey Turnpike.

    Open the Freedom Gate

  • Qualifier #1: Gran Akuma over Johnny Gargano, Hallowicked, Lince Dorado, Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson following Spider Suplex/Moonsault combo, with Gran Akuma pinning Johnny Gargano. Match was high-flying and stiff as well. Young Bucks faced off at one point and shook hands at the end.
  • Qualifier #2: BxB Hulk over Brian Kendrick via Superkick/Roll-Up. Hulk WAY over.

Kendrick cuts a (rather curious and bizarre) post-match promo about how he wrestles for himself and no one else. Bryce comes out to get him out of the ring followed by Cole & O’Reilly. Moxley out and takes the mic. Segment ends with Kendrick & Moxley attacking the other wrestlers.

  • Salute to Skyade Qualifier #3: CIMA over Jorge “Skayde” Rivera, Mike Quackenbush and Super Crazy with CIMA pinning Rivera
  • Qualifier #4: YAMATO over Davey Richards with a Sitout Tombstone in what was described as a “sick, back and forth” match.

This was the best singles match of the night, with most of us thinking it couldn’t be topped…which it was later on)

  • Jigsaw over Eddie Kingston via a top rope foot stomp. Kingston pulled out lucha spots and a dropkick out of nowhere
  • Naruki Doi and Masato Yoshino over SHINGO and Dragon Kid when Yoshino submitted Kid with a leg hold and finally got a win over his rival.

This blow-away match topped YAMATO-Richards and was definitely a Match of The Year contender. Crowd was white-hot for this match, as they tore things up with multiple double team spots. Definitely worth buying the PPV for this match alone

  • Open the Freedom Gate Title Decision Match: BxB Hulk defeats CIMA, YAMATO, and Gran Akuma

Elimination #1 – YAMATO defeated CIMA with roll-up preceded by Akuma low blow

Elimination #2 – BxB Hulk defeated Gran Akuma via pinfall

~BxB Hulk pinned YAMATO to become the 1st Open the Freedom Gate Champion

Davey Richards is immediately out to challenge BxB Hulk and attacks him! Dragon Kid makes the save.

NOTES: While there was nothing disappointing in the show itself…(again, worth buying the PPV for the Doi-Yoshino/Dragon Kid/SHINGO tag match alone, let alone YAMATO-Richards); I had to be disappointed in the contribution of the DGUSA crowd to the Toys for Tots collection. With the cost of seats for this show, this was not a crowd that lacked money, so their lack of response was perplexing.

The crowd’s attitude toward CZW (when their sale of Cage of Death tickets was announced) also stunk. Despite Gabe Sapolsky’s best efforts to tell the crowd to turn down their smarkiness, it reared its head more than once last night, including at DGUSA’s own ring crew at one point.
