Unfortunately, we just received word from D.C. (Don) Drake that he will not be able to appear at the TWA Reunion Show on Oct 24th. Drake has been dealing with some health issues lately, which is why he was not originally booked to wrestle on the show, only to accompany Larry Winters to the ring. However, just this past week, Don began experiencing some unforeseen complications that need to be addressed. We will miss Don the night of the show, but we just hope his current condition improves.
Anyone who was a fan in the Philadelphia-area in the mid-late 80s and early 90’s knows that the Larry Winters-D.C. Drake feud was one of the cornerstones that the TWA was built on. Their feud was so hot, that a plethora of wrestling promoters who would book the Drake-Winters feud for their own respective promotion’s shows. Later on in the TWA, Drake and Winters (along with Johnny Hot Body and managed by Don E Allen) became a team known as the Dog Pound.
On a personal level, Don is just a great guy and has done a lot of work over the years for teens as he has served as a drug and alcohol counselor, and has also done a lot of public speaking on drugs and alcohol to schools and youth groups. The TWA will be keeping Don in our thoughts and we all hope he gets well soon.
