New England’s Big Time Wrestling has had to cancel its scheduled event on Sept. 25, 2009 called “Danbury Slam 2”, which was to take place at the Danbury Ice Arena in Danbury, CT. Here are statements from BTW and Roddy Piper’s agents(posted on www.btwpro.com) explaining the cancellation:
Statement from The Gillespie Agency, Roddy Piper’s Management Company: “Due to a health issue Roddy Piper will be unable to appear at the Big Time Wrestling shows on Friday September 25 at the Danbury Arena or Saturday, September 26 at Malden Catholic High School in Malden, MA. Roddy sends his love to his New England fans and is very sorry to have to miss this event. He is hoping to be able to return to Big Time Wrestling soon!”
Statement from Big Time Wrestling: “Everyone at Big Time Wrestling wish the best for our dear friend Roddy Piper and hope that our great fan’s understanding and support will help Roddy get through this. Thank You.” Due to Rowdy Roddy Piper not being able to attend at this late notice, the event on SEP 25th has been cancelled. We thank the over 700 fans who purchased tickets to this event so far. Any refunds for tickets purchased from the Danbury Arena Box Office can be obtained starting SUN-SEP 13 at 12noon-5pm EST. After that refunds are available MON-FRI 10am-6pm. Credit Card purchasers can call (203) 794-1704 during those hours for refunds as well. Any refunds for tickets purchased online through Paypal will automatically receive a Paypal refund within 7 days. The September 26 event in Malden is still taking place in order for Malden Pop Warner Football to raise funds for their great program. Sgt. Slaughter will replace Roddy Piper plus other surprises. If anyone that has purchased tickets for Malden wants a refund please use our contact page on this website and a refund will be issued. Thank you!”
