Indy News #1: August 29 (PW USA)

Eric Nelson sent this in:

Pro Wrestling USA announced today that it is now seeking member promoters in all areas of the nation. PWUSA Operations Director Eric Nelson issued the following statement earlier today:

“In the tradition and heritage of great promotions of the past such as the NWA and AWA, Pro Wrestling USA is proud to announce that we are seeking member promoters. PWUSA is looking forward to bringing a family friendly sports product to wrestling fans everywhere, and with the help of member promotions, we can do just that.”

According to PWUSA’s plans, member promoters will pay no annual dues, they will have access to talent sharing with all members nationwide, and will benefit from the advertising co-op that will be created with the body. All member promoters will receive trademark useage for all PWUSA advertising materials and logos as well.

Member promoters will also be able to send their talent or tapes to benefit from PWUSA’s television program, which will air in over 25 markets nationally by March of 2010.

“We are extremely excited about this, and have already spoken to many promoters around the nation.” Nelson said. “It is our hope to provide a strong, balanced network of promoters in protected areas that can give the fans what they want.”

Member promoters will also have access to PWUSA’s Heavyweight and Tag Team Champions on a touring basis. Nelson says that he believes the biggest benefit to having member promoters, aside from the television and name recognition, is that “you have a single champion, a title holder who means something not only on the East Coast, but on the West, and in the South, everywhere. If it weren’t for that, there never would have been an AWA or an NWA.”
