Here’s the results from the New Japan “Wrestling Donkatu 2009” PPV from Fukuoka!

In the biggest occurence of the night, IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated Hirooki Gotoh to retain the title. The biggest upset of the night was surely the team of Giant Bernard & Karl Anderson not only going over Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima, but that Anderson managed the pin fall victory. Yuji Nagata gained a measure of revenge in a brutal dog collar match victory over Takashi Iizuka.

After the title match, Tanahashi said that he’d be defending his title again on just three days rest, putting the title on the line against Manabu Nakanishi at the Korakuen Hall show on the sixth. We’ll have a full, in depth report in this week’s “Rising Sun Soliloquy Newsletter”.
