Former WWE Superstar Gene Snitsky announces his retirement from wrestling

Former WWE Superstar Gene Snitsky (real name Eugene Alan Snitsky) announced on his Instagram Friday he is retiring from professional wrestling as he plans wrestle a few more shows and then focus on other things which includes weight training.

Snitsky had a try-out match in 2003 with WWE on the October 20 episode of WWE Monday Night Raw.  Following the match, the company offered him a development deal with Ohio Valley Wrestling.  Snitsky debuted on the September 13, 2004 episode of WWE Raw in a no- disqualification match against Kane.  In 2007 Snitsky underwent a character change being portrayed as an unpredictable madman with a new look that included a shaved head, shaved eyebrows and yellow teeth.  On December 11, 2008 Snitsky was granted his request for release from WWE.

On the July 24, 2014 episode of TNA Impact Snitsky debuted alongside Rycklon (former WWE Superstar Ezekiel Jackson) as both men attacked Tommy Dreamer and Team 3-D.  His time in the company would be short lived as he was “fired” by Dixie Carter the next month on the August 7 episode of Impact which would be his exit from the company.  Snitsky has spent the last ten years in the independent scene.
