Ring of Honor and New Japan sell out Madison Square Garden for event on April 6

MSG

Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling have made history.

The two companies appear to have officially sold out the G1 Supercard event at Madison Square Garden set for April 6, 2019 during WrestleMania 35 weekend.

PWInsider reports that just 19 minutes after tickets went on-sale this morning to the general public, Ticketmaster was no longer listing any tickets as being available.

ROH COO Joe Koff told John Pollack yesterday that both companies sold 60% of all pre-sale tickets made available in the last week, indicating a sell out was near.

Koff issued the following statement to PWInsider about the big news:

“We are humbled and appreciative of our fans and their belief and support of Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling.  All we can say is Thank You!”

Two hours ago, ROH tweeted out to fans to “keep trying” on Ticketmaster and indicated more tickets could be pop up for those who let others expire.

It still remains to be seen how many tickets were actually sold for the event. Regardless, this was a big moment for both promotions during a big weekend for wrestling.

Earlier this summer, Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks sold out the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates (just outside Chicago) for ALL IN, selling 10,000 seats in 30 minutes. Between ALL IN and this joint ROH/New Japan show, it’s very clear that wrestling fans are hungry for more alternatives and will clearly show up.
