Cody discusses the weight of ALL IN, wanting to win NWA title to follow his father’s footsteps

The National Wrestling Alliance has posted the latest edition of their YouTube series “NWA Ten Pounds of Gold”. This episode, episode 32, focuses on the upcoming NWA World Heavyweight Championship match at ALL IN this Saturday in Chicago.

At the event, current NWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis will be defending his championship against “The American Nightmare” Cody.

During the interview, Cody says he wants to win the NWA Championship to follow in the footsteps of his father. Cody says that when he first broke into the pro wrestling business, he wanted to be “the savior” of the Rhodes family being his brother Dustin, better known as Goldust in the WWE, was never given the opportunity to be a world champion – despite being better than most realized.

Cody says of potentially winning the NWA World Heavyweight Championship for the first time:

“To be the very first second generation – where a father and son won the exact same title, what a bridge, what a bridge to what we did back then that was right. What a reminder to what we can do tomorrow that is right – for our fans, for the consumer.”

Cody also discusses the love and support of his wife, who is also interviewed in the episode. Current NWA World Champion Nick Aldis, Tommy Dreamer and NWA owner Billy Corgan are also interviewed during the episode.

Just a quick reminder, Wrestleview will be broadcasting live from Chicago for Starrcast this Saturday. Wrestleview Editor-in-Chief Adam Martin will be joined by fellow Wrestleview staff members Doug Lackey and Mike Tedesco on stage from 3:00-3:45pm CST.
We will be giving away one free ticket at the event.
