1/5/07 – featured an opening in-ring segment in which Teddy Long announced 16 wrestlers would be competing in a “Beat the Clock” series with the wrestler to get the fastest win will face World Heavyweight Champion Batista at the Royal Rumble; Long then introduced Batista, who said he loved the idea, and then brought out Kane as the first participant of the night; included Maryse, in lingerie, welcoming the audience back from commercial; Johnny Damon of the New York Yankees was in attendance; featured John Bradshaw Layfield showing photos which showed the third degree burns MVP sustained at Armageddon before bringing MVP to the ring, who talked about the fact he couldn’t do anything for himself, blamed Teddy Long for putting him in that position, and said he would compete in the Beat the Clock series despite his injury and go on to the title shot at the Royal Rumble; included a vignette of Batista, showing his years in Evolution, his World Heavyweight Title win over Triple H, his jump to Smackdown!, injury at the hands of Mark Henry, and giving up the title; featured Kristal interviewing Vickie Guerrero about the fact everyone has turned their back on her – Chris Benoit, the fans, and even Chavo Guerrero Jr. – and began to cry after saying she had no one left:

Smackdown! – featured an in-ring promo by Vickie Guerrero, with Teddy Long, in which Vickie introduced Rey Mysterio Jr. as the new #1 contender; moments later, Mysterio said he still cared about Vickie and her family, despite her relationship with World Heavyweight Champion Edge; Vickie then said Eddie Guerrero would want her to move on, that she was still young enough to have more children, and Edge would be a perfect father figure; Edge then appeared with the two trading words until Chavo Guerrero Jr. appeared; Chavo then told Mysterio to mind his own business and that the Guerrero family was disgusted by Vickie’s actions; Vickie then lashed out at both Mysterio and Chavo and ordered them to face each other later in the night; included the announcement the Undertaker would be part of the 30-man Royal Rumble; featured a backstage segment with Vickie and Edge, with Edge sending Long out of the room before the two discussed the earlier segment; included an ad for Smackdown! becoming HD in two weeks; featured the announcement that Ric Flair would face WWE US Champion MVP with Flair’s career at stake at the Royal Rumble; included a backstage segment with Vince McMahon and Hornswoggle in which McMahon encouraged Hornswoggle’s participation at the Royal Rumble and his arm wrestling contest later in the show; moments later, McMahon and Finlay spoke, with Finlay telling McMahon that he wasn’t living up to their “deal” and McMahon told Finlay to calm down and that he too would be in the Rumble match; featured an ad for ‘Raw’s Greatest Hits: The Music’ and ‘The Best of Raw 15th Anniversary’ DVD; included a vignette promoting the debut of 2007 Diva Contest Winner Eve:
