As it turns out, Adam Carriker and Robert Griffin III aren’t the only wrestling fans in the Redskins locker room.

Days removed from appearing on Monday Night Raw for giving Griffin a WWE title belt as 4th & Pain Champion, Carriker and radio co-host Chuck Carroll crowned a new champ in veteran linebacker London Fletcher.

In an interesting twist, both Fletcher and Carriker have played for the St. Louis Rams. It was during Carriker’s stint there that he met Joe “Road Warrior Animal” Laurinaitis who’s son James also played for the Rams.

Carriker said Laurinatis introduced him to the word “jobber” and filled him in on the endless rounds of re-taping WWF would make if an undercard guy messed up a top talent’s finisher.

And while the young Griffin was a fan of the Monday Night Wars era of wrestling, Fletcher’s fondness for the squared circle runs much earlier.

The 35-year-old told the show his favorite wrestlers were Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes and “Hands of Stone” Ronnie Garvin and the Road Warriors. Yes, Ronnie Garvin is getting a National Football League shout out.

“I used to sit around on Saturday morning and wait for wrestling to come on,” he recalled. “I used to scream all through the house and my mom and my aunt would tell me to shut up!”

Fletcher also says fellow Redskins Lorenzo Alexander and Kedric Golston would make good pro wrestlers.
