Sting Q & A: Wants a match with Undertaker at Wrestlemania

Scott H. passed along this recap of a Sting Q and A in London.

Sting did seem to be going through the motions, as if to say you know I have signed with New York, but I cant say it, out loud.

Sting really enjoyed Hulk Hogan and classed Hogan as the number one draw in the history of the business.

Sting praised Scott Hall for coming up with the 1997 “Crow” gimmick. He also said he helped Goldberg break into the business.

Sting rated Ric Flair, HBK and Kurt Angle as the three greatest wrestlers of all time.

Sting really seemed to respect Flair, HBK and Angle’s ability in a wrestling ring.

He told a road story about The Steiner’s ribbing Lex Luger and him when Ric Flair was driving and spinning around on ice, shouting out, ‘oh no, we are going to crash’, and Sting said Lex was totally flipping out.

Sting talked in depth about the Ultimate Warrior, saying in the gym no one has ever come close to training like Jim Helwig did, he was a beast. He said Warrior deserved to be in HOF and no one really cares about the DVD of 2005 as everyone has moved on. Sting also noted that Warrior was a major star who had a major rise in the business, very quickly.

Sting praised Eric Bischoff and said he was a great manager behind the scenes.

Sting surprised a lot of people with his praise of Vince Russo and said it doesn’t matter how long for, but Russo was successful anywhere he went in the business.

Someone asked him a personal question about Ric Flair and what he loves about women. Sting revealed Flair loves women with hairy arms.

He has fond memories about bleach blonde Sting from the 1990’s and while in TNA he was asked to go back to it, but as it pointed out, ‘I haven’t got the hair anymore.’

Sting talked about Vader working stiff and literally having to tame him. He was with Mick Foley the night he lost his ear in Munich.

Sting liked working in the n.W.o and the Main Event Mafia,

When talking about TNA, Sting said he went to bat for Magnus and pushed for him backstage. He rates Somoa Joe as a true talent and said that he needed more time with TNA. Sting also mentioned how talented AJ Styles is.

Sting made a joke about Dixie Carter’s skills on the mic and the crowd agreed that they are not the best in the world.

In 2002, Sting did have talks with WWE about coming in. He said he believed in his heart that in 2001 if he joined the whole Invasion angle it would have changed the business forever. Sting also said he didn’t rate himself as a top guy in terms of performers. He said he was a second tier guy with Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, HBK and Kurt Angle all being in the top tier.

To me, Sting is a man who is content with his career and is looking to end it in the perfect way. He made it clear he wants to have a match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania.
