Kota Ibushi out of New Japan G-1 Climax with a concussion

New Japan announced earlier today that Kota Ibushi will not be able to compete in this year’s G-1 Climax tournament beginning this Monday (7/21) due to a concussion Ibushi suffered in a match with KUSHIDA on July 4th. Ibushi sustained the concussion early on in the match with KUSHIDA, but finished the match where KUSHIDA defeated him to win the IWGP Jr. Title.

Multiple tests show that Ibushi has no abnormalities but there has been damage done to his head which is causing Ibushi to have shakes. The medical commission decided it was best for Ibushi and the wrestlers he would be wrestling in the G-1 Climax that he be deemed unable to compete. New Japan apologized to the fans who were hoping to see Ibushi wrestle and its expected that a replacement for Ibushi will be announced in the next couple of days before the first day of the G-1 Climax on 7/21.
