Lucha Underground Results – 10/29/14 (Debut Show)

Lucha Underground on El Rey Results
October 29, 2014
Boyle Heights, California
Commentators: Matt Striker, Vampiro
Recap by: Jason Namako of Wrestleview.com

We start with a vignette that features two thugs beating down a hooded masked luchador. Another, more experienced luchador runs in and takes out the two thugs with a spinning headscissors and an airplane spin. The more experienced luchador grabs the rookie luchador and says to come with him.

The veteran luchador sits down with the rookie luchador and says that we need to talk about the seven tribes of our ancestors, about the warriors who built the Aztec empire and about the legacy they left behind. What do you know about lucha libre? For 100 years, lucha libre has honored the ancient traditions of combat and now, it is our turn to rise.

We see someone at the most recent AAA Triplemania introduce himself as Dario Cuerto, a businessman. Cuerto says he is opening the doors of his temple to all of your luchadores. Let them compete for me in America. Sign this contract and walk away with all this money. Cuerto dumps a bag of money in the ring and the guy representing AAA signs the contract. Cuerto says to tell your luchadores that I will see them at Lucha Underground.

We go back to the veteran luchador, who asks the rookie luchador if he will join us. The rookie luchador shakes the veteran’s hand.

We see an intro for Lucha Underground, then go inside the temple as commentators Matt Striker & Vampiro welcome us to the show. Ring announcer Melissa Santos introduces Dario Cuerto. Cuerto makes his way to the ring with a briefcase.

Cuerto introduces himself and says he has opened his doors to the best fighters in the world and I will give them the opportunity to either kick-ass, or get their ass kicked, because this is not a stadium where the children can cheer for their heroes. This is a temple, my temple, where we honor ancient traditions like courage, honor and my personal favorite, violence. The luchador who impresses me the most will get a signing bonus, $100,000. The one who impresses me the most, gets this money, tonight. So, to all the luchadores competing tonight, here’s your chance to get rich, or die trying. Let’s get this started with the foundations of lucha libre who have lucha in their blood. Welcome to Lucha Underground!

Winner: Blue Demon Jr. by submission

Backstage, Dario Cuerto speaks with Konnan in his office. Cuerto says he is so happy Konnan came and that a legend such as yourself wants to work here in Lucha Underground for me.

Konnan says he doesn’t know about all that “working for you” s**t, but I am interested in all that money you are throwing around, but this isn’t about me. You said you were looking for the best fighters in the world? Peep out that window, what you’re gonna see is the best fighter in the world and he’s from right here in this barrio.

Cuerto says he thinks there might be some luchadores who might feel differently about that. In fact, I have just signed a deal with the biggest free agent in the business. He’s arrogant, he’s cocky, he’s reckless. He’s a man that goes by many names, but here in my temple, he will be known as Johnny Mundo. But, I signed him only to make an example out of him. You see, he does not respect my temple, he’s here for the money and the fame. So, if your man is as good as you say he is, have him make an example out of Johnny and if he does, perhaps the $100,000 will go to him and to you.

Commercial

Back from commercial, we see a vignette on Konnan and his new protege, Prince Puma. We see Konnan training Puma by giving him instruction outside the ring. Konnan introduces himself and says he has been in wrestling for 3 decades, people in my country have called me a legend. But the true legend of lucha does not run in my veins, it runs in Prince Puma’s. When I was a little kid, I would hear my mother telling stories about ancient times, about how centuries before us, there were 7 Aztec tribes, how each tribe had its own champion, all warriors, the original Luchadores. When a luchadore would lose in battle, it wasn’t just his honor that was taken from him, way before Game of Thrones, Aztec warriors would claim the head of their fallen opponent, which is why the mask has become the symbol of life in our sport. If a luchadore loses his mask, he loses everything. We see Konnan giving more instruction to Prince Puma. Konnan says that his new protege, Prince Puma, might be from right here in Los Angeles, but he traces his bloodline back to the fiercest renegade tribe from the Aztec spirit animal, the Jaguar. Prince Puma was born to be a Lucha Libre legend, its in his blood. After watching the way he fights, its making me a believer. The legend of his tribe has shown him his destiny and Lucha Underground, I will show him his glory.

Commercial

Back from commercial, before the next match, we see a vignette on Sexy Star. Star says that when she used to look in the mirror, she saw a woman who was afraid. I came from a world of abuse, I even contemplated suicide, but then this mask saved my life. Lucha Libre called to me, it showed me that women are as strong as men, as tough as men and sometimes can kick-ass better than a man can. I lace up my boots for all the girls who need to get on their feet. I train for every girl who no longer needs to be afraid and I win for every girl out there who needs a hero, because every woman is sexy, every woman is a star and I fight for them all because I will never be afraid again.

Intergender Match: Son of Havoc vs. Sexy Star

Before the bell, Havoc says that before Star gets all excited, I’m not wrestling a woman. So why don’t you do yourself a favor, leave my ring, get yourself counted out and live to fight another day. Star goes to leave, but then comes back in and unloads on Havoc with strikes. Havoc shoves her down twice, then hits a shoulder tackle. Havoc removes his ring jacket, but Star avoids a springboard moonsault and hits a rana. Star goes for a wheelbarrow, but Havoc slams her down face-first. Star goes up & over, but Havoc catches her. Star is sent onto the apron, but slaps Havoc and heads up top. Crossbody by Star for a nearfall.

Star off the ropes, but Havoc catches her with a backbreaker for the win.

Winner: Son of Havoc by pinfall (Backbreaker)

Commercial

Back from commercial, Dario Cuerto walks up to Chavo Guerrero backstage. Cuerto asks Chavo what happened out there, I thought for sure that you would get the first victory in my temple. You could have sent the legendary Blue Demon Jr. into retirement once and for all and you could have shown that the Guerrero family is the greatest luchadore family in history and what do you do? You tapped out. What would your grandfather think? What would your uncles think? But, one thing’s for sure, the $100,000 won’t be going for you and since you didn’t finish the job tonight, next week, I will have to bring in an opponent that will. But, once this man is here, there is nothing that I can do to stop him. One thousand deaths might be coming for us all.
