Full NWA TNA PPV Results - 11/27/02
LIVE From: Nashville, TN

1. Divine Storm (Chris Divine & Quiet Storm) defeated Mark & Jay Briscoe when Storm pinned Jay after the Storm cradle driver. they missed a lot. Maybe they were nervous as it was their first time on such a big stage. They tried a lot of big moves and some looked real good and some looked bad. Trinity, who is the valet for Quiet Storm, is already major league talent.

Mike Tenay cut a promo on Vince Russo. Remember how funny it was when you had to read the Observer Newsletter each week to understand WCW storylines because they were booking so ridiculously inside. Well, it's happening again. Actually they were playing off the Torch column where it said Tenay would quit if Russo was in charge. That was never the case. Russo came out and got his shots in on Waltman. They are trying to use that to further their angle as they said Waltman quit because Russo came back. At least his promo was better than what passes for promos in WWE. Tried to weave reality into storyline. If you read the internet, and I guess that's all the audience they have anyway, you'd probably get most of it. If you didn't, you'd have no clue. He made Jarrett world champ. Vince McMahon tried to bury Jeff in WWF but he saved him. Ten people were chanting for him and the rest of the crowd was silent. He said TNA sux, WWF sux, swore a lot, and quoted Strangler Lewis and Lou Thesz about the easy way and the hard way.

2. Chase Stevens & Cassidy O'Reilly defeated Chris Harris & James Storm via count out when Harris & Storm were out of the ring chasing Father Mitchell and Bella Donna. They had destroyed Stevens & O'Reilly first to make sure everyone knew they should have won. They teased giving Bella Donna the death sentence (old Demolition finisher). Mitchell begged them not to. So they didn't. Brian Lee & Slash then attacked them

3. Slash & Brian Lee defeated B.G. James & Curt Hennig via DQ to retain the NWA World Tag Team Titles. Bad match with little heat. Storm & Harris hit the ring to attack Lee & Slash and cause the DQ. James & Hennig were unhappy about that, so they cleaned house on Storm & Harris

4. E.Z. Money defeated Alex Winters after the cha ching. Basic squash match but Money did a lot of cool moves. Actually the best wrestling on the show thus far.

Goldylocks interviewed Bruce. Bruce is now straight and he's no longer Bruce, he's now Angry Alan Funk. He said he'd be giving his Miss TNA crown to April

5. Sonny Siaki defeated Crimson Dragon with the Siakalypse (same move as Test is using as his finisher). People popped big for Siaki doing a belly to belly superplex off the top rope. Dragon was a little sloppy in spots but carried it okay. Siaki threatened to quit the promotion if he didn't get main events and title matches.

Brian Lawler was the next to retire, saying he's been embarrassed. The good news about that was we didn't have to see a Lawler vs. Bruce match as scheduled. The bad news is he's really not retired. He played grab ass on the way out with Priscilla. For the 99.9% of the audience who didn't get that, you see, in real life, Priscilla was Jerry Lawler's girlfriend until not all that long ago. Everyone is supposed to know that and be revolted by it since Russo and Jerry know it. I guess they'll bring that up next week.

6. Jerry Lynn defeated A.J. Styles to retain the X Division Title. Far and away the best match on the show. They did a brawl this time, where Mortimer Plumtree kept using Knux on Lynn, who juiced. Lots of near falls. Their last match was better, but this was the only thing on the show the crowd was strongly with. Plumtree threw the Knux to Styles, but Lynn got them, used them, and got the pin.

They interviewed Dory Funk about the history of the NWA title, Baba, Race, Kiniski and Brisco. Russo is laying him out for sure.

7. Jeff Jarrett defeated Ron "The Truth" Killings to retain the NWA World Heavyweight Title. Jarrett looked good and Killings actually was quite a bit better than last week. The atmosphere wasn't there like last week. Jarrett played heel champ, and it kind of confused the crowd, which wanted to cheer him. A lot of near falls. They did a spot where both fell off the stand near the entrance way through a heavily gimmicked table. Just like the requisite table bumps so gimmicked they made you groan in WCW. They did a double count out finish, but Bob Armstrong came out and restarted the match saying they wanted a winner and loser. Ref bump and the crowd let out a collective groan. Russo came out with a guitar and gave it to Jarrett. Jarrett teased using it, then smashed it on the post and gave Killings three strokes for the pin.

MATCHES ANNOUNCED FOR NEXT WEEK:
  • Jose & Joel Maximo vs. Divine Storm

  • Chris Harris vs. Brian Lee

  • James Storm vs. Slash
(Winner of both of those matches in a three-way bullrope match with James Mitchell)

  • A.J. Styles vs. Amazing Red vs. Kid Kash vs. yet to be determined opponents (which means more will be announced) - Double Elimination series of matches to determine the #1 Contender for the X Division Title

  • Jerry Lynn (c) vs. Sonny Siaki - X Division Title
