Full NWA TNA PPV Results - 3/5/03 Location: Nashville, TN Commentators: Mike Tenay & Don West Report by: Wade Keller of PWTorch.com
Kevin Sullivan gave a promo at the beginning of the show. Due to technical problems, which were acknowledged by TNA, the first five minutes of the show didn't air. The Sullivan in-ring promo was joined in progress. He said (and I'm not kidding) something about how "the gates of hell will open and your ass is mine." I really wonder if people think about what they say before they say it. He announced he will be special referee for the Sandman vs. Raven "Clockwork" orange match.
(1) Jerry Lynn defeated Super Crazy (w/Konnan) in about six minutes. All action and highspots. Crazy was Konnan's surprise this week. Crazy was a popular ECW luchador.
A video package aired on the Vince Russo-Jeff Jarrett saga including the videotape message from Russo's son last week and Russo tearing up in response.
Tenay interviewed Vince Russo in an office setting. Russo said the words from his 15 year old son last week caused him to think about life and he has decided to retire from wrestling. Tenay said, "Time will tell."
(2) Slash & Brian Lee defeated The Hotshots. After the match, the Harrises beat up the Hotshots and threw them out of the arena.
Goldy interviewed a very wasted-looking Sandman backstage who talked about his history with Sullivan. He spit beer in the air which got on Goldy; she wasn't happy.
Jeff Jarrett did an in-ring promo talking about Russo's supposed retirement. Erik Watts, David Flair, and Brian Lawler interrupted. Watts did all the talking, complaining that Jarrett didn't stand up for them as fellow second-generation wrestlers.
(3) Jorge Estrada defeated Disgraceland at 3:25. A very sloppy match, par for the course for both of these missed move specialists.
Backstage SEX members argued with each other. Desire wasn't happy when Gilbertti introduced a new female SEX member, Holly Wood. Not a pretty sight.
Kid Kash was in the Interrogation segment and didn't say anything that would prove his IQ was above 80.
(4) Kid Kash defeated Amazing Red to retain the X Title at 9:15. Good match.
A.J. Styles barged into Jeff Jarrett's locker room and told him he got screwed in his title match. Jarrett told him it was his doing and to deal with it.
A sitdown interview aired with Tenay talking to America's Most Wanted. AMW talked about paying their dues, the death of Curt Hennig, and their tag title match next week against Triple X.
(5) Glen Gilbertti & Mike Sanders defeated America's Most Wanted at 8:50 thanks to interference from Triple X member Elix Skipper.
Sanders and Siaki brawled after the match. So did Desire and Holly Wood. Siaki and Sanders shook hands after the Harrises calmed them down. Desire, though, slammed Holly to the mat rather than hug her.
(6) Raven defeated The Sandman with Kevin Sullivan as special referee in a Clockwork Orange Match. They wrapped the ring in a chain and had weapons stashed everywhere. They only went eight minutes, but it was never boring if your into wild bloody weapons-oriented brawling. In the end, Raven threw Sandman off the bleachers through two side-by-side stacks of three tables to win the match.
Afterward, Styles attacked Jarrett and Raven. Then Flair, Watts, and Lawler attacked Jarrett. They ended the show nearly 15 minutes before the top of the hour.
