After defeating Brock Lesnar and Big Show in a Triple Threat Match, Undertaker laid claim to the number 1 contender’s spot and earned a match against Kurt Angle for the WWE Championship. The Triple Threat match came about after Brock Lesnar demanded a rematch against Kurt Angle.
Calling what happened at SummerSlam “fluke,” a “miracle” and a “mirage” Lesnar told the world that he should get a return bout against Angle. Undertaker interrupted Lesnar and told him that he had his chance and now it was time for him to “go to the end of the line.” The Big Show then came to the ring and claimed that he was the rightful number one contender. Finally, SmackDown! General Manager Stephanie McMahon came to the ring and announced that the three could settle it in the ring. After a hard fought match, the Deadman was able to secure a pinfall on Lesnar.

Earlier in the evening, Eddie Guerrero came out to a hometown hero’s welcome only to be rudely interrupted by John Cena. Cena insulted Guerrero and the El Paso crowd. Guerrero tried to contain himself, but could only take so much before hammering away at the Massachusetts native. This encounter set up a match later in the evening for Eddie’s United States Championship. Cena ended up being disqualified for a low blow and Eddie retained the championship.
