VELOCITY RECAP

Big Show vs. Pat Cusick and Murry Happer
Not sure about the spelling of the local boys’ names because it was only on the screen for three seconds. Big Show wins in one minute after chokeslamming both opponents.

Winner by pinfall: Big Show

Matt Hardy vs. Joey Matthews
Matt dominates early as his hometown fans cheer him on. Matthews turns the tide with a neckbreaker and a choke in the ropes, but runs right into a clothesline. Version 1.0 counters a sleeper hold into a Ricochet, but Matthews keeps fighting back. The rookie hits a flying clothesline off the top rope for a two count. Hardy moves out of the way of a charging Matthews and then hits the Downfall Legdrop followed by the Twist of Fate for the win.

Winner by pinfall: Matt Hardy

Chuck Palumbo vs. Orlando Jordan
Nunzio and The Bull get sent to the back after trying to interfere. In the ring, Palumbo hits a superkick that sends Orlando to the outside. Chuck has to go to the floor to roll Orlando back in because he looks unconscious. The FBI member continues the assault with a Samoan Drop and ties up Orlando in the tree of woe. The ladykiller finally gets some offense going with a few punches, a flying burrito and a back body drop. He nails a high cross body, but Chuck rolls him over for a near fall. Both men get to their feet and exchange a few counters before Jordan hits Black Ice for the win.

Winner by pinfall: Orlando Jordan

Flashback to Smackdown
They show a lengthy recap of the Iron Man Match that Brock Lesnar won to become the new WWE Champion.

Billy Kidman vs. Shannon Moore
Kidman gets the quick start with some fast offense including a spinning head scissors. Shannon turns the tide with a hiptoss that sends Kidman into the turnbuckles followed by a hard Irish whip into the corner that floors Mr. Torrie Wilson. Kidman hits a high dropkick and goes on a hot streak with a hurricanrana and a Death Valley neckbreaker. Shannon hits a spinning heel kick and a corkscrew off the top rope (that’s the Halo?) for a two count. BK Bomb by Kidman and he ends it with a Shooting Star Press.

Winner by pinfall: Billy Kidman

VELOCITY REVIEW

Big Show vs. Jobber 1 and Jobber 2
And the point of this was? Big Show was headlining PPV’s (albeit undeservingly) and now he’s opening Velocity. The WWE should have just run an extra two commercials for the amount of impact this match had.

Matt Hardy vs. Joey Matthews
Decent match. I like how Josh Matthews kept brining up the fact that these two wrestlers used to be in the same promotion and that was why the rookie was able to counter a lot of Hardy’s moves. Version 1.0 should be on Smackdown involved in a big time rivalry, but I won’t complain about seeing him on the B show.

Chuck Palumbo vs. Orlando Jordan
Solid win for Jordan. His finisher didn’t look as good tonight, but it still has that ‘out of nowhere’ quality that could make it really popular with the fans. Chuck showed some good offense too, but I’d like it better if the FBI wrestled tag matches and went after the titles.

Billy Kidman vs. Shannon Moore
Awesome main event!! Both guys got in a ton of offense and showed some creative counters. Shannon has improved so much over the past year. He deserves a chance to be a regular on Smackdown. Kidman still scares me with that SSP. It looks so dangerous.

Overall, a good show. If you ignore the Big Show match (which is pretty easy to do), there wasn’t really anything to complain about. The Iron Man Match recap was a bit long but I didn’t catch Smackdown this week so I didn’t mind. I would have liked to see how Eddie and Chavo won the tag belts though. That seems important enough to merit a flashback segment. Anyway, the three matches that lasted longer than a minute were pretty good with the main event being the best of the night.
