NOTES

Courtesy of Henry Hutcheson, we have been informed that a “writ of possession/eviction” has been posted on the door of the arena in Columbus, GA, in which the Independent Wrestling Network was running events in recent months. According to the “final notice”, it was noted that a plan of eviction was planned, as ordered by the Municipal Court of Columbus, and was addressing Larry (Dwayne) Bell, Phillip Carter, and Christopher Crosby. This is the same venue which had once been used by Great Championship Wrestling before their move to Phenix City, AL. (Rich Tate)

In other IWN news, a posting on Craig’s List dated June 19, has the IWN looking for a “booker/financial backer”. The clearly fictitious posting says, “Our well has run dry due to poor judgment and horrible business decisions, such as booking Frankie Valentine”, and later adds, “We had A.J. Steele and we thought he'd be the next Ron Simmons but it turns out he's just a jacked up Virgil. The only talent that we had was Southside Trash, and by talent we mean getting drunk and eating our own garbage backstage just to save a buck of the money they skimmed off all of the wrestlers!” In closing, “Needless to say, we'd like to start over fresh, and we'll let anyone book for us. Anyone. Just write to us and say "let me book for you" and you can. We'll work together to build the next big show , bigger then Wrestlemania and survivor series, but not as big as the Royal Rumble, they have 30 guys and we can only afford 10 right now, but we've got masks so some of our wrestlers can work twice , it also doubles the chances they might have a good match.” The person who created this ad on Craig’s List is not known to us, and as of this writing, it is still up on their site. (Rich Tate)

GWH wishes a happy birthday to Matt Stryker, who turns 29 today.

Today in Memoriam: Larry Doyle (37, 1998) and Pat O’Hara (84, 2004).

Championship Wrestling News
June 21, 2008

For those of you who didn't get a chance to read the results from last week's event in Kingsport, not only do we have a new National Heavyweight Champion, but we have new US Tag Team Champions as well...

A plan unfolded last week in Kingsport as Kandy helped the 501st defeat Beau James & Moe Jenkins to become the US Tag Team Champions... The last time we saw Kandy, was in Greeneville a few weeks back when she told her husband, Thorn that she was pregnant. Thorn then reacted by attacking Robbie Cassidy. This left everybody in Championship Wrestling dumbfounded as to what was going on.

But last Saturday Night in Kingsport all was revealed as Thorn cashed in the open contract he won back in February to take on Robbie Cassidy for the National Heavyweight Title immediately following Cassidy's match with Steve Fury... Despite having already wrestled, Cassidy fought back and was on his way to winning until The 501st, an unknown man dressed in black and Kandy all interfered on Thorn's behalf.... and now Thorn is the new National Heavyweight Champion for a 2nd Time!

Both matches are featured on this week's edition of Championship Wrestling TV... Check it at http://www.ChampionshipWrestlingTV.com.

--- Tickets for Championship Wrestling's Fun Fest Rumble 2008 go on sale TODAY at the Fun Fest Store at the Fort Henry Mall in Kingsport, TN. The Fun Fest Store is located in the Old Foot Locker Store on the top level beside Italian Village... Already signed for Fun Fest:

Kingsport's Own Tony Givens attempts to become East Tennessee's 1st ever World Heavyweight Champion as he takes on the AWA World Heavyweight Champion, Brian Logan. The feud between these longtime rivals recently flared up again as Logan attacked Givens' wife in Greeneville... This will be the 1st World Title Match ever at Fun Fest.

Robbie Cassidy seeks revenge as he takes on Thorn for the National Heavyweight Title... Thorn and his crew set Cassidy up, tried to ruin his reputation and took the top price in Championship Wrestling from him. Can Cassidy get the title back on the biggest event of the year?

Wayne Adkins teams with 1/2 of the Rock n' Roll Express, Ricky Morton to take on the undefeated KMF Inc. (Big Steve Fury & Chris Richards)... Wayne Adkins was on his way to winning the AWA World Title from Brian Logan when KMF Inc. interfered and cost him the match... Wayne, alongside one of the greatest tag team wrestlers of all time, Ricky Morton, looks to even the score by ending KMF's undefeated streak .

The US Tag Team Titles will be on the line as the new champions, The 501st defend against the former champions, Moe Jenkins & Beau James... James & Jenkins were an unconventional team that molded into great champions. Can CW's odd couple win the titles for a 2nd time?

Last week in Kingsport, Alyx Winters defeated Nick Hammonds after using brass knux behind the referee's back... At Fun Fest Rumble 2008, Winters and Hammonds will compete in the "Summer Surprise Brass Knux Match". There will be a box located in all 4 corners of the ring. 3 boxes will contain nothing, but the 4th box will contain the brass knux. The 1st wrestler to find the brass knux will be allowed to use them.

More Matches will be announced for the Fun Fest Rumble next week!

For more information on Championship Wrestling's Fun Fest Rumble 2008 visit http://www.ChampionshipWrestlingTV.com.

--- Fun Fest isn't the only thing going on in Championship Wrestling this Summer... This coming Saturday, June 28, Championship Wrestling returns to Greeneville, TN at the Eastview Rec Center. New National Heavyweight Champion, Thorn will making his 1st appearance in his hometown since winning the title.

Thorn has more than the fans' reception to worry about in Greeneville this Saturday, because he will be taking on the man he beat for the National Title, Robbie Cassidy in a Non-Title Grudge Match.

Tony Givens and Wayne Adkins will be looking for revenge against John Hawkins Promotions in Greeneville as they team with Givens' father-in-law, James Blevins to take on John Hawkins Promotions in 6 Man Tag Team Action.

For more information on our return to Greeneville, TN this Saturday, visit www.ChampionshipWrestlingTV.com.

--- Big news for our fans in Elizabethton... Championship Wrestling will be a part of Elizabethton's 4th of July Celebration as we will presents 2 great matches right before the Parade at the War Memorial at 11:00 AM on July 4th.

Then, the following week, Saturday, July 12, Championship Wrestling will debut at the Parks & Rec in Elizabethton... We will have more news on these events next week!

Randall Gordon sent this report in:

I went to Rain Of Champion in which Savio Vega was going to fight with Scott Hall. Also Ricky Banderas was going to fight that night with Tokyo Monster. Before the show Hugo Savinovich told us that Scott Hall is not going to fight because he lost his flight by unknown reasons but his manager Rico Casanova was there and also that Ricky Banderas was assaulted yesterday in Mexico and know he is arrested in Mexico that is the reason why the 2 wrestlers can't be in the show.

Here the results of the show RXW Rain Of Champions

Match#2 (Total X Championship)
