CHIKARA: Complete card for July 13th's "Tragedy & Triumph!"

A monumental card will rock the CHIKARA calendar in just over a week! We're offering up a giant, star-studded card, on Sunday afternoon, July 13th, at our homebase of the New Alhambra in Philadelphia. This one will be a card on par with our very finest stand-alone events, and every loyal member of the CHIKARMY will want to be on hand when "Tragedy and Triumph" plays in South Philly!
With the addition of today's 8-man tag team match to the line-up, our card for July 13 is complete! Members of F.I.S.T., the Osirian Portal, the Colony and the Super Smash Brothers will collide in atomico action in the mighty CHIKARA manner! Plus, we've got a surprise up our sleeve for all fans attending "Tragedy and Triumph", and we'll tell you all about it later this week!
On July 13, UltraMantis Black will have his hands full as he meets All-American hero, and apparent double-agent Tim Donst! Back at "Deuces Wild," UltraMantis dropped Donst on his noggin, and then tried to convince the concussed rookie that he was a member of his Neo Solar Temple. Well, Mantis' plan worked a little too well - and now that Donst has dropped his amnesiac act and apparently left the Order behind him and returned to the tecnicos, he wants to deliver a little payback to his tormentor!
In addition to which, the Young Lions Cup, won by Fire Ant in an emotional tournament final back on June 15th, will find himself rematched with Vin Gerard. Since losing the tournament final, Gerard has been lobbying for another stab at Fire Ant, and to silence him, Director of Fun Leonard F. Chikarason has signed this bout. If the match is even half as intense as their last meeting in Hellertown, we'll be in for a charged evening at the New Alhambra!
Take a look at the complete card:

Incoherence (campeones) vs. The Fabulous Two (retadores)

UPCOMING AWF LIVE EVENTS

AWF WRESTLING
INDEPENDENCE DAY

@ FAIRY MEADOW FRATERNITY CLUB

FRI 4 JULY, 2008

The Australasian Wrestling Federation (AWF) returns to Fairy Meadow Fraternity Club on Friday 4 July to present a huge evening of pro-wrestling action, aptly entitled “Independence Day”.

The event itself will showcase the best AWF has to offer in a variety of special feature bouts, making the night a massive 6 bout super card that will offer over 2 hours of live action suitable for the family.

The main event for the evening will feature a singles bout that has been brewing for the last 6 months at the Fairy Meadow events, between Il Cognoto & AWF Australasian Champion, TNT.

TNT and his Detonation Crew have dueled with Il Cognito and his Freakshow since January, and at Independence Day the two men with the most storied history in the AWF, will meet again, this time in a lumberjack match with both men’s teams surrounding the ring. The AWF Championship will be on the line, and with all the outside forces involved it may come down to a numbers game for the final decision. Recently Alison Wonderland of The Freakshow has put the new valet of The Detonation Crew “Bombshell” Bo out of action indefinitely, making the official team member numbers 5 to 4 in favour of the Freakshow. It will be interesting to see if this in fact tips the scales, as the AWF Championship is riding in the balance.

In another huge bout, stemming from the May Fairy Meadow event, 6 man trios action will see Southern Cross members Bluey Bonza, and Surf Club (Scotty Club and Adam Hoffman) battle Detonation Crew members Powerhouse Theo, and Swat Team X (Chris X & Billy Flyswat).

At the 2 May “May”n Event Fairy Meadow card, then tag Team Champions, Surf Club battled TNT and Powerhouse Theo in a back and forth bout and were victorious after interference from Swat Team X backfired causing the Detonation Crew defeat. After the bout however “The Crew” 5 on 2 attacked Surf Club, until a chair wielding Bluey Bonza came to the rescue sending the attackers fleeing the scene, and setting up the match.

To add further to the intensity of the tensions, on 3 May at Blacktown, NSW, Billy Flyswat & Chris X defeated Scotty Club & Adam Hoffman to become AWF Tag Team Champions, with “Swat Team X” even taking away “Surf Club’s” valet “Bodacious” Bo. This 6 way bout is set to be no holds barred warfare!

Elsewhere on the card, Young Lion’s Champion Jay Law will face the brutal and unorthadox Toxin of “The Freakshow”, in what should be a brutally hard hitting bout.

In other exciting match ups funny man Max Comic will meet the lard of “The Freakshow” Massive Q, and “Platinum Player” Kid Dynamite will wrestle with the fiery Nick Ferno.

“AWF Independence Day” is sure to be great evening packed with surprises galore, so if you are looking for a fun night out be sure to make it along and support the Australasian Wrestling Federation at Fairy Meadow Fraternity Club.

We advise to book early to avoid disappointment as AWF events are often turn away sell outs.

AWF WRESTLING

CHAMPIONSHIP CLIMAX

@ BLACKTOWN RSL

SUN 6 JULY, 2008

The Australasian Wrestling Federation (AWF) returns to Blacktown, NSW on Sun 6 July for one of it’s biggest and most anticipated events ever… Championship Climax.

A huge afternoon of pro-wrestling action, featuring Australia’s top professional wrestlers is planned for the mid year event at Blacktown RSL, with the main event set to feature a massive four way bout for the AWF Australasian Championship..

The 2 May Blacktown RSL event set the stage for the huge 4 Person AWF Championship bout, when in the main event AWF Title bout, just as challenger Mark Hilton looked set to pin AWF Champion TNT, Powerhouse Theo entered and broke up the pinfall on behalf of TNT and caused the bout to end in disqualification. From there TNT’s Detonation Crew team members tried to attack Hilton, however Hilton’s allies in his newly formed faction Southern Cross charged to the rescue, and shortly after The Freakshow and Platinum Players units were all in the ringside area and chaos had broken loose with almost 20 wrestlers all going at it. After total madness and repeated bell ringing, the scene was calmed slightly with all four team leaders left standing in the ring. Hilton proclaimed on the microphone that he had the match won, deserved to be champion and should get a rematch. He then added that they should make it a four way bout to see who is the best in AWF. TNT then reluctantly accepted and the scene was set for TNT, Mark Hilton, Il Cognito & Steve Ravenous all to meet in a four way one fall winner takes all bout for the AWF Australasian Championship. The winner of this bout will not only walk away with the title, but will give their faction the major force of power in AWF, holding the most prestigious championship. This will be an important bout for all and the fallout will possibly be just as spectacular.

In the Young Lion’s Championship bout, Champion Jay Law will face off with main antagonist Bluey Bonza in a no disqualification bout, stemming from a recent string of encounters where Law has been counted out at the hands of “The Aussie Battler”.

Bluey says “There will be no getting counted out or running away on 6 July. I’m gonna correct Law’s bad policing and corrupt ways, then deliver some Aussie justice by taking the Young Lion’s Title at Championship Climax, for the fans and The Southern Cross.”

Tag Team Championship action will see new title holders “Swat Team X” of “The Detonation Crew”, battle the in form deadly duo of “Black Venum” representing “The Freakshow”. This bout will be a battle of technical skill and sound teamwork against unorthadox brute force and skullduggery. The clash in styles should make for an intense tag title bout.

In other important bouts as part of the 6 July line up, the super popular Surf Club will battle Platinum Players members JT Robinson & Kid Dynamite in a tag team contenders bout, the deadly burlesque beauty Alison Wonderland will take on the Detonation Crew’s “Bombshell” Bo in women’s action, prankster Max Comic will battle the big spectacle of “The Freakshow” Massive Q, and rookie “Spaceboy” Dacey will pit his universal energy to the test against the scientific skills of Robert “The Scientist” Best.

“AWF Championship Climax” will be one of the best events on the AWF pro-wrestling calendar of 2008, so if you are looking for a fun afternoon out be sure to make it along and support the Australasian Wrestling Federation at Blacktown RSL.

We advise to book early to avoid disappointment as recent AWF events have been turn away sell outs.

AWF WRESTLING

“NEWCASTLE KNOCK OUT”

@ KINGS THEATRE, LAMBTON

FRI 11 JULY, 2008

The Australasian Wrestling Federation (AWF) makes its return to the Hunter Region on Friday 11 July coming to The King’s Theatre for the very first time with a huge evening of pro-wrestling action, featuring Australia’s top professional wrestlers.

The AWF will deliver over 2 hours of action packed sports entertainment suitable for all ages in a huge card that will showcase a variety of different matches, fighting styles, characters and championship bouts.

The main event of the evening will see popular “Detonation Crew” member, Powerhouse Theo, take on the evil ringmaster of “The Freakshow”, Il Cognito.

Powerhouse Theo and Il Cognito have two of the best win loss records in the AWF and a win here will no doubt put them on top of the pile in AWF. Theo will likely look to side with his strength advantage to obtain victory, whilst Il Cognito will no doubt use underhanded tactics incorporated with sound wrestling techniques.

This main event is likely to get out of hand and is likely to involve members from both “The Detonation Crew” and “The Freakshow”.

In another main bout of the evening, Young Lion’s Champion Jay Law will defend his title against Newcastle local “Dr Waxhead” Adam Hoffman.

Hoffman is the premier high flier in the AWF, with confidence and a no fear attitude far larger than his frame. His experience of riding the waves of the surf has helped his balance and agility in the wrestling ring, and has assisted in many victories. He will be looking to wipeout the championship reign of corrupt champion Jay Law in his home area at Newcastle Knock Out.

A huge under card is planned for Lambton, which will feature intriguing and exciting match ups such as a the Tag Team Championship’s being defended with “Swat Team X ” taking on the tandem of Black Venum. There will be a special mystery mixed tag team bout pitting Alison Wonderland and the partner of her choice against Bombshell Bo and her mystery partner. Rounding out the card will be two exciting Platinum Players Vs Southern Cross bouts with Steve Ravenous battling Bluey Bonza and JT Robinson taking on Scotty Club.

“AWF Newcastle Knock Out” is sure to be great evening packed with surprises galore, so if you are looking for a fun night out be sure to make it along and support the Australasian Wrestling Federation at The Kings Theatre, Lambton.

We advise to book early to avoid disappointment as AWF are often turn away sell outs. Tickets on sale now at the venue.

AWF WRESTLING

CENTRAL COAST SLAMFEST

@ CENTRAL COAST YOUTH CLUB

SAT 12 JULY, 2008

The Australasian Wrestling Federation (AWF) comes to the Central Coast Youth Club on Saturday 12 July with a huge evening of pro-wrestling action, featuring Australia’s top professional wrestlers entitled “Central Coast Slamfest”.

The event itself will showcase the best AWF has to offer in a variety of special feature bouts, making the night a special 7 bout super card.

The main event for the Central Coast Slamfest will pit ringmaster of “The Freakshow” Il Cognito against leader of “The Platinum Players” Steve Ravenous.

Both men are looking to gain the psychological victory here and prove who is the most prolific leader in AWF, and thus holds the balance of power in AWF rings.

The bout will mark the first time these two captains have met in singles action while heading up their two groups, and will no doubt see all the rules in the book go out the window, as these wild combatants put it all on the line at Niagara Park.

In addition to the main event, the AWF Australasian Champion TNT, will be in attendance, and will battle Central Coast local funny man, Max Comic.

TNT is renowned as Australia’s top wrestler and is 4 time AWF Champion who has beaten some of the top wrestlers in the world including WWE stars X-Pac, Raven, Kidman and many others.

Max Comic is a relative newcomer to AWF, however he says he is taking his first AWF Title shot very seriously, and hopes the element of surprise and his hometown audience might be enough to score him the upset Championship victory. Comic commented “ Hey TNT, wouldn’t it be funny if when we meet in my backyard of Niagara Park, if you slipped on a banana peel and I hit you with the punch line, and well I became the new AWF Champion. Seriously, I guess you wouldn’t be laughing then TNT!”

Also as part of the Slamfest Massive Q will send out a $5000 Challenge to anyone who can bodyslam him centre ring. The 165 kg Q claims he is unslammable, and is happy to prove it to the world. It will be interesting to see who is up for the challenge at the aptly named “Slamfest”.

Other huge bouts on the event will see Young Lion’s Champion Jay Law defend against the super popular Scotty Club. Tag Team Champion’s Swat Team X will put their titles on the line against the team of Nick Ferno & Rob The Scientist. Young Lion’s contenders action will pit Kid Dynamite against Dr Waxhead, and there will be a special mixed tag team bout pitting Alison Wonderland & Zander Bathory against Bombshell Bo & Powerhouse Theo to round out the card.

“AWF Central Coast Slamfest” is sure to be great evening packed with surprises galore, so if you are looking for a fun night out be sure to make it along and support the Australasian Wrestling Federation at Central Coast Youth Club.

Blacktown, NSW

Attendance: 250

Results:

Kid Dynamite b “Spaceboy” Dacey, Powerhouse Theo b JT Robinson, Il Cognito b Bluey Bonza, AWF Tag Titles: Swat Team X (Chris X & Billy Flyswat) b Surf Club (Adam Hoffman & Scotty Club) to win Tag Titles, AWF Young Lion’s Championship: Jay Law DCO Massive Q, Steve Ravenous b Max Comic, AWF Australasian Title: Mark Hilton b TNT DQ

Notes:

- Detonation Crew opened the show with TNT talking about Hilton seeming coming to join at Penrith, him injuring shoulder Vs Raven thus couldn’t kick out, and going to New Zealand and winning AWF Title back from Raven. Swat Team X said they would win Tag Titles, and Theo said he would avenge Players interference which cost him Young Lion’s Belt. TNT then said it was time for new Detonation Crew member Mark Hilton. Hilton came out and turned the Crew down and started his own group called “Southern Cross” which would be comprised of him, Bluey Bonza and Surf Club. With both teams in ring Hilton added that he would be cashing in his Title shot from Australia’s Cup win, and would face TNT for the AWF Championship later in the show. Detonation Crew was all bent out of shape!

- All Freakshow members interfered in the Il Cognito Vs Bluey Bonza bout, with Q finally being too much blasting Bluey leading to the Cognito victory.

- Swat Team X became new tag team champions when Theo & TNT seemingly had Bo in a compromising position on the floor and Surf Club were distracted. Hoffman lept to the floor to Bo’s aid who escaped under the ring. Bo came out the other side and took her leg brace off and passed it to Chris X who blasted Club, and Swat Team X nailed Scotty with the double fishermans bomb to get the title win. After the bout Detonation Crew celebrated with Bo joining the group and leaving Surf Club to the shock of many.

- Jay Law and Massive Q were both counted out when Bluey Bonza entered ringside with Donuts and the two were distracted. Bonza then stated he would win Young Lion’s belt from Law at AWF Dojo on 17 May.

- TNT retained against Hilton when Hilton seemingly had bout won after a springboard frogsplash, but Theo made the save and whole crew started to beat Hilton. This lead to Surf Club and Bonza coming out and fighting with Crew, then The Freakshow and The Platinum Players also entered and complete pandemonium broke loose! After wild action things settled a little with Hilton, Il Cognito, Ravenous and TNT in the ring. Hilton said he was ripped off and should be champ, but then added lets settle this by having a four way with all factions head members represented at the next event, with the winner taking the AWF Title. TNT accepted as did other teams and the bout will take place one fall winner at Championship Climax on 5 July at Blacktown RSL.

- Lots of angles and story development throughout and the show and happy fans afterwood.

- AWF returns to Blacktown RSL on Sat 5 July with Championship Climax

- As the novelty bout was about to commence, JT Robinson stormed the ring beating both characters down, and grabbed the mic and said he was here to win tournament, not see this comic style rubbish. Joey Angel stormed the ring and put up a big fight, but JT finally scored with the Emerald Fusion for the Supa Tournament victory. He told TNT the belt would be his back in Sydney.

AWF NEWSWIRE JULY, 2008

Welcome AWF News Update July, 2008.

- As current AWF Champion, TNT has his hands full! As a result of the disqualification in his 3 May Blacktown match versus Mark Hilton, he will consequently defend the AWF Title in a huge four way against Hilton, Ravenous and Il Cognito at the Championship Climax event on Sat 5 July at Blacktown RSL. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1qS4Pc2V30&eurl=http://www.awfwrestling.com.au/home.php & http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYIIAwym8n8&eurl=http://www.awfwrestling.com.au/home.php . That is if he can get past Il Cognito on 4 July at Fairy Meadow in the big lumberjack bout!

- Tickets for both the Fri 4 July Fairy Meadow Fraternity Club “Independence Day”, and Sat 5 July Blacktown RSL “Championship Climax” events are on sale now from the respective clubs, with Ringside tickets $25, and General seating only $15. Please support these exciting live events as we will be busting our butts to put on great shows! Book early to avoid missing out!

- Since last time we also have brand new AWF Tag Team Champions, with Swat Team X – Billy Flyswat and Chris X, upending Surf Club’s 8 month strong title reign. Other major news to come from the bout was “Bodacious Bo” turning her back on Surf Club, playing an integral part in the title change, and joining the Detonation Crew. She will now go by the name “Bombshell” Bo!
With both the Australasian and Tag Team titles in their grasps, and Powerhouse Theo recently winning the Sydney Supa Tournament, The Detonation Crew has definitely asserted their dominance as the top faction in the company at the present date.

- These happenings have no doubt riled the groups of “The Platinum Players” and “The Freakshow” up plenty. Since last update, The Freakshow have enlisted Zander Bathory and Toxin into their ranks, and many insiders speculate that Jay Law has a working agreement with the Platinum Players.

- As a reaction to the gang like environment, Mark Hilton has formed a faction of his own, that will go by the name of “Southern Cross”. The foursome will consist of Hilton, Bluey Bonza, Adam Hoffman & Scotty Club, and will no doubt represent the Australian fighting spirit. Their goal will no doubt be like the other 3 factions, to bring the championships to their group and gain the balance of power in AWF. Hilton will have his chance at Blacktown on 7 July.

- AWF will revive the Commonwealth Wrestling Title in New Zealand on October 3 & 4, with a 2 day tournament featuring some of the best stars in the area. TNT, Roger Ventura, Jay Law, D-Hoya are early entrants. More details to follow in the lead up to the big "Tradition Reigns" crowning.

- In the Young Lion’s division, Champion Jay Law has kept up with his winning ways, defeating the likes of Max Comic, Jason Dacey and newcomer Rockafella in recent bouts. His main competition at the present is from the aim of Southern Cross' “The Aussie Battler” Bluey Bonza, who Law seemingly got himself deliberately counted out against at Blacktown in March. Law then was counted out with Massive Q again in May, due to Bluey distracting the pair with Donuts! If Bluey continues his winning ways he no doubt will have a date with Jay Law and the Young Lion’s Championship again in the future. If Bluey is not able to get the job finalised "Dr Waxhead" Adam Hoffman is also waiting in the wings to get his hands on Law, with the two set to meet on 11 July at Newcastle Knockout.

- AWF will hold it’s mid year Dreamcamp Mon 7 – Thurs10 July, with applications still being accepted now. Dreamcamp is a fun camp that teaches wrestling basics and is for ages 12 and up. Ever wanted to step in the ring and see what it’s really like? Then come to Dreamcamp and find out! Call 0410691377 today if you wish to attend.

- AWF School of Pro-Wrestling August – October, 2008 Semester enrollments are still being accepted. Classes start on Sat 2 August so get in now if you are intending on joining!!

- AWF is pleased to announce it's return to the Campbelltown Catholic Club at the newly built Cube entertainment complex. Tickets are on sale now online at www.thecube.net.au .

- Alison Wonderland is furious that Bombshell Bo attacked her at the final of the Supa Tournament Sydney, and says she has a plan up her sleeve and vows to get rid of Bo from AWF. Elsewhere, The Freakshow are claiming that no man, woman, child or beast can bodyslam the 165 kg Massive Q. Il Cognito is putting up $5000 to anyone who can slam the Massive Q.

- Infuriated by recent shananigans by other local wrestling promotions, AWF Champion TNT showed up at the recent Campbelltown Nightmare event on 25 May and made his presence felt attacking Blakestone after the main event. To say TNT hasn't made friends there is an understatement as he was chased from the buiding by the locker room.
