IWA Tri-State Wrestling made its debut last night at Jersey Star Elite All-Stars and Recreation Academy (for old school CZW fans, this was the old Champs Soccer Arena) in Sewell, NJ before a crowd of 125. The promotion runs more toward old-school wrestling and finishes than CZW or most other area promotions, a welcome difference.
This night was a fun trip in the way-back machine for some of us who were at the early CZW shows at this building, with some old faces I haven't seen in a long time. It's the first time I've seen photographer Craig Prendergast in quite a while, as well as Madonna Wayne Gacy, longtime Jersey indy mainstay. CZW's Zandig and Sabian also made appearances in the crowd.
Note to promoters: Get a lot of kids to your show. Kids that yell and scream all night made buildings seem fuller and add to the atmosphere, as happened tonight.
Results
Manager Simon Rhyme is in the ring cutting your standard heel "your hometown sucks" promo on Sewell, and announces he is managing Greg Excellent. Greg Excellent came out, but claimed that he has pulled a groin, then provided replacement Hellaware Assassin.
Don Montoya came out "Who Let The Dogs Out"...with a Michael Vick jersey. Oh, and a thought...every time Eric Cooper calls himself "The Enforcer"...Arn Anderson cries a little.
IWA Tri-State Wrestling returns to Jersey Star Elite All-Stars and Recreation Academy on September 20.
