SOUTHEASTERN WRESTLING NEWS, NOTES, AND NOSTALGIA: 08/28/2008

NEWS and NOTES

Tickets for the following Total Nonstop Action event goes on sale tomorrow: October 10 in Davenport, IA, at the RiverCenter.

Great Championship Wrestling will be at the Gr8 Sk8 Plex in Phenix City, AL, tonight. Bell time is 7:30 PM.

GWH wishes a happy birthday to Jody Hamilton (70) and Mike Rapada.

Today in Memoriam: Tarzan Lopez (63, 1975) and Bearcat Wright (50, 1982).

There is an excellent interview with current NWA Mid-America Heavyweight Champion and former WCW star, Ali Stevens during the second hour of the August 25 edition of Jerkin’ the Curtain hosted by Trent Van Drisse and Tommy Stewart. Stevens is quite candid in his comments concerning his current run with NWA Main Event, the injury he suffered at the hands of Marc Anthony, and the Nashville wrestling scene in general.

Prime Time Pro Wrestling returns to the Event Center (5000 Burnham Boulevard) in Columbus, GA, on August 29 with "Total Chaos." Advertised matches are as follows: Southside Trash vs. Simon Sermon & Thomas Britain for the tag team titles, Jake Slater vs. Dustin Powers, Bulldog Raines vs. Pain, Elix Skipper vs. #1 contender Chic Donovan, Colt Derringer & Deathrow vs. Chris Stevens & a Mystery Partner. One more match to be added. Bell time is 8pm.

Showtime All-Star Wrestling owner Reno Riggins announced that Raven will coming to the SAW Mill for back-to-back television tapings on September 19 and 20. The back-to-back television tapings is a first. SAW's usual taping schedule is every other Friday night.

DISCLAIMER: GWH is not liable for any card changes, cancellations, etc. We can only report what is reported to us. As always, we suggest you check with the promotion within 24 hours to verify information posted here.

CIMA posted a couple of updates regarding the September 5 show through his MySpace page.

- Unfortunately, Dos Caras will be unable to compete. He recently underwent eye surgery that will keep him out of action for two months. Replacing him in the match with Dragon Kid against Keni'chiro Arai and Taku Iwasa will be Vampiro.

- CIMA and Susumu Yokosuka will be at the ASAHI book store in Los Angeles on Saturday, August 30 from 3pm-5pm signing autographs as well as selling tickets for the show and even selling Dragon Gate goods (some of which went on sale yesterday in Japan). CIMA will also be on hand during Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's "All Star Weekend 7" on Saturday and Sunday in Reseda selling tickets while Susumu will be competing on both nights (Night One in an International Six-Man Tag Team Match with El Generico and Kevin Steen against PAC and The Young Bucks, Night Two in an International Special Attraction against CMLL star Alex Koslov.)
