NWX/AWA SummerBlast Results

Aug 24/08
Port Dover, Ont.
Kinsmen Park
(Outdoor Show)
Ring Announcer: Mystery Woman
Referees: Bryan Renda, "Future WWE Prospect" Franky

The rain started just before bell time & poured during the first match. A few small showers after that then sunshine & severe humidity for the rest of the show.

1) Mike Sydal & Chris Cruze def Amazing Spade & Alexis Thurman.
- Not sure I got all those names right. Spade & Thurman were heels.

2) Scotty Turner def Kris White w/ Jay Moore & Cody Deaner.
- After the match Deaner, Moore & White tripled up on Turner until Kryss Thorn made the save.

3) James Masterson & Mikey def Ashe Draven & Patient 13
- Apparently, Patient 13 has 'paid his dues' so I have no comments to make about his performance but I suspect he paid for his dues with food stamps at a discount store.

4) NWX Television Title Match:
"Go Time" Chris Laplante def defending champ Troy Buchanan by pinfall in about 12 minutes but the TV Title was only on the line for the first 10 minutes of the match so Troy retains. Fun match.

~intermission~

5) A1 defeated Rex Atkins by pinfall after a running powerslam.
- A1 was in full-on heel mode. Good match.

6) NWX Women's Championship:
"The One & Only" Jaime D pinned Cat Power after a spear to win the vacant title. Best match on the card.

7) NWX North American Championship (2 Referees):
Defending champ Kryss Thorn pinned Cody Deaner after a Swanton to retain his title.
Deaner was accompanied to the ring by Jay Moore & Kris White. Ref Franky was the in-ring official & Renda handled the outside duties. Had the potential to be the best match on the show and was up until the finish. GREAT stalling & cowardly tactics from Deaner in the opening minutes. Renda kicked White out after catching him interfere. Deaner & Thorn brawled all over the place. Finish came after ref Franky was knocked out & Renda entered the ring to take over. White came back out with A1 who had a big chain. Moore distracted Renda while A1 attempted to hit Thorn with the chain. He missed & Thorn blasted him with a superkick before finishing off Deaner. Sadly, ref Renda obviously saw most of the shenanigans - A1 even told him to 'turn around' when Renda caught him in the ring wrapping the chain around his hand and Renda did. Anyway, the heels all pounded on Thorn after the bell until Laplante, Atkins & Turner made the save. This would have been the Match of the Show if the finish hadn't played out the way it did.

Overall it was a fun show & all the fans were having a great time throughout.

CWE - Aug 29 Belleville, Ontario Results Aug 29, 2008

For the fourth year, CWE put on a spectacular show in front of a large and enthusiastic audience at the Quinte Exhibition.

This year, CWE presented the "King of the Ex" Tournament to the fans in Belleville. Making his first CWE appearance in recent years, the Belleville fans witnessed the return of the ex-WWE Superstar, Highlander Robbie!

The 8 Comptetitors were signed and the following is the quick results.

"King Of The Ex" 1st Round Match:
South Side Strangler #1 vs Joey Valentine

This match saw one half of the Wild Stallions versus one half of their nemesis team, the South Side Stranglers. Great match which saw Strangler #1 distract the referee in desperation, and Strangler #2 ran in the ring to deliver Joey a massive spinebuster. Strangler #1 took advantage of this and quickly pinned Joey.

Winner: And advancing in the tournament: South Side Strangler #1

"King Of The Ex" 1st Round Match:
South Side Strangler #2 vs RJ City

Once again we saw a member of the Wild Stallions take on a member of the Stranglers. This match started off one-on-one, however it didn't stay that way for long Strangler #1 tried to interfere, but his plans were thwarted as Joey Valentine ran out to cut off his dasterdly deeds. While SSS #2 was distracted by Joey and SSS #1, RJ City was able to surprise Strangler #2 with a roll up and got the win.

Winner: And advancing in the tournament: RJ City

*** After the match the Wild Stallions grabbed the mic and made the challenge to the Stranglers as they had enough and wanted to take care of them once and for all. The Stranglers agreed to a match, but would only do so if the titles were put on the line.
The Stallions wanted this match more then anything and they agreed to the terms. However, the CWE Commissioner still needed to give the go-ahead. The ring announcer contacted the commish on the phone and gave the run-down of what happened. The commissioner decreed that the Tag Title match could happen later in the show, however for this match to take place, all 4 men must officially withdraw from the "King of the Ex" tournament.
They all agreed and the match was set!

"King Of The Ex" 1st Round Match:
"Jamaican Sensation" Reggie Marley vs SWOOSH

With the Stallions and Stranglers out of the tournament, this made the following 2 matches extra important as the winners of each match would be making their way to the finals of the "King of the Ex" tournament.
For the first time ever, the fans of Belleville lay witness to the Superhero SWOOSH! The fans were definetly behind SWOOSH throughout the entire match, however their support wasn't enough against the crafty veteran as Reggie countered Swoosh's sunset flip for the 1..2..3.

Winner: And advancing to the finals of the tournament: Reggie Marley

"King Of The Ex" 1st Round Match:
Ruffy Silverstien vs Highlander Robbie

This day marked the return of former WWE Superstar ROBBIE from THE HIGHLANDERS to CWE. Everyone was very happy to see the former CWE Ontario Champion, well..... everyone but Ruffy Silverstein!
Ruffy felt he is the big deal in CWE and people should be excited to see him, not some guy that left the CWE years earlier.
This was a huge battle between the Scotsman and the Hart Dungeon graduate. In the end Robbie got the win, but paid the price with some bruised ribs.

Winner: And advancing to the finals of the tournament: Highlander Robbie

CWE Tag Team Championship Match:
South Side Stranglers (challengers) vs Wild Stallions (champions)

The match was signed and the crowd was electric. This Wild Stallions held the CWE tag straps ever since winning them in Belleville the previous year, and did not have any plans on losing them in front of the Quinte crowd. This was another classic between these two teams and did not disappoint. Speaking of not disappointing, the Stallions were able to retain their belts to the delight of the fans!

Winner and still CWE Tag Team Champions: The Wild Stallions

MAIN EVENT
"King Of The Ex" FINALS
"Jamaican Sensation" Reggie Marley vs Highlander Robbie

Despite his bruised ribs, Robbie came out to the ring planning on giving 100%. CWE medical staff gave him the option of going through with the match or not, but Robbie decided to go to the ring for all his fans.
Reggie and Robbie fought all throughout the stands - even though it was not a falls count anywhere match, the referee exercised great leeway and did not throw out the contest.
Once they made their way back to the ring, it was a seesaw contest between the two competitors. Robbie's ribs were definetly bothering him, and Reggie was more then happy to take advatage of that. Reggie Marley at one point removed the referee from the ring to point out a fan who was being disrespectful to him and he wanted the fan to stop. This was just a ploy, as it provided and opportunity for Ruffy Silverstein to run in the ring and knock Robbie out with a pair of brass knuckles. Once the dastardly deed was done, Reggie came back into the ring and scored the pinfall.

Winner and 2008 "King of The Ex: Reggie Marley

After the match Ruffy returned to the ring to toast Reggie in his vicory. It was now evident that his was all a set-up between the 2 of them to double team the former WWE superstar and rob him of the title of "King of the Ex". It took both of them to take out the Highlander, and they succeeded.
While Reggie was getting crowned, he and Ruffy got a little too "close" to the lady presenting the crown. All of a sudden Robbie returned to the ring and single handedly took care of the dastardly duo and saved the maiden in distress!

Hot show in front of a great crowd!
