John Cena's merchandise numbers for 2008 were among the best of anyone in WWE/WWF history except for Stone Cold Steve Austin during his peak years and Hulk Hogan in the 1980s reports The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. This alone is one of the reasons why there is said to be no talk of turning him heel at this point. However, if his merchandise was to stop selling and people booed him more often, then it would likely go under consideration, but it doesn't appear there is a chance of that happening anytime soon.
