Update on Brock Lesnar/WWE situation & what role it will play at WrestleMania
On Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 5:06 PM EST - To follow up on the Brock Lesnar story added earlier today on WrestleView.com by Ryan Allen (CLICK HERE for more), many have been wondering if this story is simply a "work" and, if it is indeed true, what role it will play this Sunday at WrestleMania XX.Since the story first broke earlier today by PWInsider.com's Dave Scherer, the general opinion by many on the internet was that this could be a giant work by both Vince McMahon and Brock Lesnar. However, despite these opinions, many sources within WWE are saying that they haven't even considered the situation to be a work and are taking it very seriously. Many agreed that if this was a big work by both McMahon and Lesnar, it would cause serious damage and upset many people. No matter how you spin it, there is nothing to gain if this truly was a work and it is a known fact that Lesnar has been very upset lately. Lesnar reportedly told the wrestlers that the business has started to take a toll on him and he wants to be able to walk when he is 40 years old. This statement surprised many as he has only been with the company for a few years and is only 26 years old. Another statement that surprised many was the fact that Lesnar has intentions of going to the NFL. Many feel Brock is crazy to think that he can go from being a non-football player to trying out for a legitimate NFL team.Another big question that has been brought up recently in the WWE locker room is how Lesnar's new career move will affect Sable, who Lesnar has been romantically involved with for a while. Some WWE wrestlers joked backstage that Lesnar would only be allowed to play for an NFL team that allowed Sable to be a cheerleader. All kidding aside, Sable was said to be very upset backstage at SmackDown last night with Lesnar's announcement. The WWE is reportedly having a meeting today to discuss what to do concerning the match between Lesnar and Bill Goldberg this Sunday at WrestleMania XX. With both men leaving the company after the event, it is putting the WWE in a hard position in terms of how to book the match. Credit: Dave Scherer @ PWinsider.com
