WWE adding two more PPVs to lineup, Bringing back Great American Bash PPV
On Monday, April 12, 2004 at 11:06 AM EST The WWE will be bringing back a WCW tradition June 27 as they will be reforming the "Great American Bash" PPV. The event is scheduled to be held in Norfolk, Virginia and will have a patriotic theme to it, as Norfolk is home to the largest naval base in the world. They will be promoting the event with posters of Torrie Wilson dressed as Uncle Sam. It is expected that the WWE will announce members of the military will be able to view the PPV for free.The Great American Bash began as a series of summer events in the late 1980's by Jim Crockett Promotions. The July '88 show in Baltimore, Maryland aired on PPV, headlined by Ric Flair successfuly defending his NWA championship against Lex Luger after the match was stopped by the State Athletic Commission because Luger was bleeding. That was the first NWA show available nationally on PPV.The Bash became an annual NWA/WCW tradition and was used up until 2000 by WCW.The Great American Bash PPV and another currently untitled PPV on Tuesday, October 19 will be held in addition to the regular 12 this year.Credit: Mike Johnson @ PWInsider.com
